According to the most recent data from 2018, 2980 members from all over China were elected to the National People’s Congress. The People’s Republic of China’s National People’s Congress, colloquially known as the National People’s Congress, is the world’s largest Parliamentary body, with nearly 3000 members (2018). It is made up of National People’s Congress deputies elected by law from 35 electoral units. It is also China’s highest legislative body.

In China, the National People’s Congress is the highest organ of state power. A total of 2980 deputies were elected to the 13th National People’s Congress before its first session on March 5, 2018, in Beijing, China. The NPC session is held once a year and can be called whenever the Standing Committee sees fit or if more than one-fifth of the deputies propose it.
Some basic functions of the NPC are making amendments to China’s constitution and supervising the same, enforcing or amending laws, to elect, appointing, or removing members of the Central State organs.
