Parallel lines are any two or more lines that all lie in the same plane and never cross one another. They are equally spaced apart and have the same incline. No matter how far we extend a parallel line, it will never meet another parallel line.

Numerous pairs of angles are created when a transversal line intersects any two parallel lines. While some angles are complementary, others are congruent (equal). Look at the parallel lines L1 and L2 in the following diagram to see how a transversal cuts them. The two parallel lines and a transversal have created eight different angles.

Straight lines that are always the same distance apart from one another are called parallel lines. No matter how far apart they are from one another, parallel lines can never intersect.
