Answer – Comparator accuracy depends upon its comparison with standards such as slip gauges.
A comparator can provide the dimension’s deviation from the target dimension while the measurement is being made. Only variations from the standard dimension must be examined in a mass production system since the dimension to be checked has a standard value.
The deviation value is very small, therefore it needs to be magnified for an accurate reading. The comparators are now divided into six categories, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, electromechanical, optical, and mechanical optical, depending on the principle utilized for magnification.
