Key Projects of Digital India programme

Digital Locker System

  • It is the national Digital Locker System launched by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).
  • It provides 1GB of free space to store documents securely.
  • It is linked to both mobile number and Aadhaar card.
  • It eliminates the use of physical documents by storing all the documents in the cloud.

MyGov.in

  • It is a platform for citizen engagement in governance.
  • It brings “Discuss”, “Do” and “Disseminate” approach in the governance.
  • The mobile App for MyGov would bring these features to users on a mobile phone.

JAM trinity

  • Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile
  • Through this initiative, Jan Dhan accounts, Mobile numbers and Aadhar cards of Indians are linked to directly transfer subsidies and eliminate the leakages and intermediaries.

Common Services Centres

  • It was approved by the government in 2006.
  • It is a strategic cornerstone of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).
  • It is one of the mission modes projects under the Digital India Programme.
  • Common service centre is the access point for delivery of social welfare schemes, essential public utility services, education services, financial services, agricultural services to citizens in remote and rural areas of the country.

Direct Benefit Transfer

  • This scheme was launched by the government of India to transfer the subsidies and benefits of various social programmes like MGNREGA subsidy, Scholarships, LPG subsidy, Old age pensions, etc.
  • The money is transferred directly in the account of the beneficiary.

UMANG services

  • UMANG stands for Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance.
  • It is developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
  • It aims to drive Mobile Governance in India.
  • UMANG provides a single platform for all Indian Citizens to access pan India e-Gov services ranging from Central to Local Government bodies and other citizen-centric services.

UPI

  • It stands for Unified Payments Interface.
  • It is a system that connects multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application.
  • It merges many banking features, seamless fund routing & merchant payments into one hood.
  • It also caters to the “Peer to Peer” collect request which can be scheduled and paid as per requirement and convenience.

e-NAM

  • It stands for National Agriculture Market.
  • It is a pan-India electronic trading portal which networks the existing APMC mandis to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.
  • It is being implemented by Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
