Logical Arrangement of Words
Logical Arrangement is the meaningful arrangement of words in accordance with the natural laws and universally accepted concepts. The different types of questions covered in this chapter are as follows.
- The sequence of Occurrence of Events or Various Stages in a Process
- The sequence of Objects in a Class or Group
- The sequence in Ascending or Descending Order
- Sequential Order of Words According to DictionaryIn this type of problem, a sequence is to be formed with the given number of words in such a way that the particular arrangement of the words gives a logical step by step completion of some process or activity. In these questions, four/five/six words are given which are related to each other in some or another way. The candidate is required to find out the proper logical arrangement of these words from the given alternatives.
Type 1: Sequence of Occurrence of Events or Various Stages in a Process
1. Select the correct alternative to indicate the arrangement of the following words in a logical and meaningful order.
- Ambulance
- Doctor
- Accident
- Treatment
- Hospital
A. 5,2,1,4,3
B. 2,4,5,1,3

Solution –
The correct order is -

Correct order is- 3,1,5,2,4
Hence, option C is the correct answer.
2. Arrange the following words in a logical and meaningful order.
- Learn
- College
- Degree
- Admission
- Assessment
- Class
A. 2, 1, 4, 5, 6, 3
B. 4, 2, 6, 1, 5, 3
C. 4, 2, 1, 6, 3, 5
D. 5, 4, 2, 1, 6, 3
Solution –The correct order of getting a degree is –
4. Admission
2. College
6. Class
1. Learn
5. Assessment
3. Degree
So the correct order is (4, 2, 6, 1, 5, 3). Hence, option B is the correct answer.
Type 2: Sequence of Objects in a Class or Group1. Select the correct alternative to indicate the arrangement of the following words in a logical and meaningful order.
- Mount Abu
- World
- India
- Rajasthan
- Nakki Lake
A. 5, 1, 4, 3, 2
B. 5, 1, 4, 2, 3
C. 1, 5, 3, 4, 2
D. 5, 1, 2, 3, 4
–Solution –Nakki Lake is situated in Mount Abu. Mount Abu is located in Rajasthan. Rajasthan lies in India and India lies in this World.
The correct order is - 5, 1, 4, 3, 2

Type 3: Sequence in Ascending or Descending Order

Solution –The logical order is the journey of a letter i.e. how is a letter posted and delivered.

Solution –The order in which they are arranged is that the Mughal ruler who ruled first to the Mughal ruler who ruled last. The correct order is:

Correct order - 5, 2, 4, 1, 3Hence, option A is the correct answer.
Type 4: Sequential Order of Words According to Dictionary
1. Which of the following options represents the correct order in which the words below are in the English dictionary?
- Cattle
- Catering
- Category
- Catatonic
- Catalysis
A. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
B. 4, 5, 3, 2, 1
C. 5, 4, 3, 1, 2
D. 5, 4, 2, 3, 1
Solution –Correct order is:
5. Catalysis
4. Catatonic
3. Category
2. Catering
- Cattle
Correct order is - 5,4,3,2,1Hence, Option A is the correct answer.
⦁ Arrange the given words in the sequence in which they occur in the dictionary.
- Mobile
- Manage
- Merger
- Merged
- Mango
A. 2,5,3,4,1
B. 2,5,4,3,1
C. 2,4,3,5,1
D. 5,4,1,3,2
Solution –Alphabetical order is:
2) Manage
5) Mango
4) Merged
3) Merger
1) Mobile
Thus, the correct sequence is 2,5,4,3,1. Hence, option B is the correct answer.
