AP Police Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the posts under Andhra Police, one has to undergo three different stages of criteria which are:
- Age Limit Criteria
- Educational Qualification
- Physical Standards
Note: – Candidates failing to fulfill any of the above-mentioned criteria, will not be able to submit the application form. Below we have shared the post-wise vacancies along with the post code to make understand in a better way:

- Posts having postcode 21 & 22 are applicable for both men & women.
- Postcode 23, 24, & 26 only men are eligible for this post.
- For the postcode 25, only women are eligible.
1. Age Limit Criteria:
For the post code no. 21, 22 & 23:
- The person belonging to Andhra and also working in the Andhra Police Department as Home Guard for a minimum duration of 360 days and also should have a minimum age of 18 years or must not have attained the maximum age of 30 years as on 01st July 2018.
- For other candidates: The minimum age required is 18 years and maximum age of the candidate should not be more than 22 years as on 01st July 2018. This means that the candidate should not have born before 02nd July 1996 and not after than 01st July 2000.
For the postcode no. 24, 25, and 26:
- Minimum age required for a candidate is 18 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years. This means that the candidate should not be born earlier than 02nd July 1988 and not later than 2000.
Age Relaxations: –
The upper age limit is relaxed for the following categories as follows:
1) A maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to BC/SC/ST.
2) length of regular service limited upto a maximum of 5 years if a candidate is an employee of A.P. State Government (Employees of APTRANSCO, Discoms, APGENCO, APSRTC, Corporations, Municipalities, Local bodies etc. are not entitled for age relaxation).
3) 3 years in addition to the length of service rendered in the Army, Naval or Air Force of the Union for the candidates who served in the Army, Naval or Air Force of the Union.
4) 3 years in addition to the length of service rendered as a whole time Cadet Corps Instructor in NCC provided the candidate rendered a minimum service of 6 months as a whole time Cadet Corps Instructor in NCC.
5) A maximum of 3 years, if the candidate is a retrenched temporary employee in the State Census Department with a minimum service of 6 months during 1991.
2. Educational Qualification:
For Post Code 21, 22, 23 and 26:
- The candidate must have cleared an intermediate (12th) examination or equivalent recognised by the state government along with graduation as on 01st July 2018. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category must have passed SSC or equivalent recognised by the state government and also have studied intermediate and has appeared for 1st & 2nd year of intermediate examinations as on 01st July 2018.
For Postcode 24 and 25:
- The candidate must have passed intermediate or its equivalent examination from a recognized state government.
3. Medical Standards:

Note:
1) Each Eye must have a full field of Vision.
2) Colour Blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eye or lids of either eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification.
3) The candidate should possess sound health and be free from any bodily defect or infirmity which will render him unfit.
4) Candidates who have the following ailments or defects will not be considered for recruitment to any post specified in this rule.
- Physically Handicapped
- Knocking Knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, Vericose veins, Hammer toes, fractured limbs, decayed teeth, stammering, hard of hearing and abnormal psychological behavior.
Note: – In order to prevent disappointment, candidates are advised to have themselves examined by a civil surgeon before applying for the examination to ensure that they meet the prescribed physical and medical standards.
