English Language is an integral part of all the banking and insurance examination. Be it Prelims Exam or Mains Exam or even Descriptive test, no one can deny the importance of English Section. Through the test of English Language, the exam conducting authority checks your command in this global language. Test of English Language assesses the knowledge and critical understanding of the principles and concepts that a candidate has. That's the reason, English Language holds a major significance in competitive examinations.

Mostly the students who are not from English Medium background face the maximum difficulty in clearing the cut off of English Language Section. It seems a herculean task for them. Also, the level of English Language has been raised up in competitive examinations. It is also the most avoided and least prepared section by the candidates. But now with the increased complexity of this section and in cut-throat competition, it is need of the hour to focus on this section right away.

English language section basically revolves around three parts:

  1. English Grammar
  2. Vocabulary
  3. Comprehension

The most important among these three is English Grammar. Without learning the basic and common understanding of English grammar, it is almost impossible to score well in English Section of Competitive Examinations. You should keep in mind following things while learning English Grammar :

  • English Grammar is the combination of some basic rules of different topics. You should understand the rules instead of blindly memorizing everything. Try to understand why the rules make sense and where they come from.
  • Learn about the basic bits that make up English grammar (for example parts of speech, Subject-verb agreement, Tenses, Preposition and different kinds of clauses) and then build up an understanding of how they work together. It's much easier to remember which pronoun to use where if you understand it properly what it's doing in a sentence rather than trying to memorize every special case.
  • Command of the grammar comes from your use of it consistently in real communications and in everyday real life activities.

Grammar is all about rules. Although rules of English Grammar keep on changing worldwide, But some rules are consistent as well as very necessary to know, For example, in  ‘Tenses’ topic, you need to know following things essentially:

  • For Habitual Actions and Timeless (Universal) Truth, Simple Present Tense is used.
  • For Current and ongoing Actions (While Speaking) , Use the Present Continuous Tense.
  • For habitual activities and states in the past, We use Simple Past Tense.
  • For an event in the past with current relevance, We use Present Perfect Tense
  • For Unfinished Action, Use Present Perfect Continuous Tense
  • When there are Two Past Actions, Then for the first action, use Past Perfect Tense.

If you are good in English Grammar, be sure that you will be able to clear the sectional cut off of  English Language. Grammar rules are connected to most of the topics of English Section. In English section, some topics need only sound knowledge of Grammar Knowledge, which are Error spotting, sentence correction or sentence improvement, Sentence Connectors, Sentence starters etc. To help students with the complete understanding of English Grammar, we are going to start our series

In this we are going to cover every possible aspect of English Grammar such as Parts of Speech, Subject-Verb Agreement, Conditional Sentences prepositional phrases, clauses, and verbal etc that can be handy for you in competitive examinations.

We hope that this series will be of great help in making you familiar with every tits and bits of English Grammar and thus will boost your score in Examinations.
