  • According to RBI – SBI accounted for 38.44 per cent of total mobile banking transactions in terms of volume and 35.97 per cent market share in terms of value in December 2015.

  • The interest rate on PPF scheme slashed from 8.7 per cent to 8.1 per cent from 1st of April.
  • According to a Finance Ministry order, the interest rate on KVP also cut to 7.8 per cent from 8.7 per cent.

  1. First bank to commence the sale of Indian Gold Coin (IGC) in the domestic market – Indian Overseas Bank

  • The bank has tied up with Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC) for the sale of IGC of 24 carat purity.
  • IGC is the first ever national gold offering by the Centre. The IGC has the national emblem, the Ashok Chakra, engraved on one side and the face of Mahatma Gandhi on the other.
  • The coin carries advanced anti-counterfeit features and comes in tamper-proof packaging. The current denominations available are 5, 10 and 20 gm.

  • These masala bonds were launched to mobilise 30 crore rupees from Japanese retail investors and will be sold to Japanese household investors.
  • The proceeds from these bonds will be used for promoting private sector development in India.
  • JP Morgan is the sole arranger of the bonds and Daisen Hinomaru Securities is its distributor.
