In all the previous banking prelims conducted, first-time SBI has introduced Sectional Timing in each section.
Students, you must practice a lot of mock test in accordance with the new pattern to enhance your speed and efficiency. You have to give equal importance to each section as you will be bound to solve each one in a particular time frame.
Major Highlight
2018: In each category, the bank will decide the number of students (approximately 10 times the number of vacancies. Subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the list of all candidates arranged in descending order of aggregate marks scored. No minimum qualifying marks for the individual subject as well as for aggregate (overall) are prescribed.
2016: Candidates had to qualify in each of the three tests by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. In each category, the bank will decide the number of students (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) was shortlisted for the Main Examination.
This time there is no sectional or overall cut off. 10 times of the vacancies will be shortlisted for the mains exam.
Changes in Phase II
The exam pattern for Online Objective Test is as follows:

There is no change in the pattern of the Main exam. Sectional timing will be there. There will no sectional cut off. Candidates are required to score minimum percentage marks on the aggregate.
The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the objective tests i.e., 1/4th of the mark assigned to each question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Language Proficiency Test
- Those students who qualify for selection and produce 10th and 12th standard mark sheet/certificate evidence having studied the specified opted language will not be subjected to any language test.
- Students who haven’t opted that language in 10th or 12th, have to give specified opted language test after provisional selection before joining. Candidates not found to be proficient in that language will be disqualified.
