Union Bank of India was established on 11th November 1919 in Mumbai.The Head Office building of the Bank in Mumbai was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the nation in the year 1921.

The Bank now operates through over 4200+ branches across the country and branches have been networked with its 6909 ATMs as on 30.09.2015.

In Union Bank of India resources are mobilized through Current, Savings and Term Deposits and through refinance and borrowings from abroad. The Bank has a large clientele base of over 5.7 crore.

At the end of March 2015 the Bank achieved total business level of Rs. 5, 79,627 crore(Rupees five lakh seventy Nine thousand six hundred and twenty seven crore).

Achievements:

1. It is listed on the Forbes 2000.

2. UBI is active in promoting financial inclusion policy and is a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).

Union Bank of India has well developed Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in place. The focus on the rural sector is through Village Knowledge Centers and Farmers’ Clubs etc. Bank also have schemes for the girl child, where it take care of education expenses. Initiatives are in place in other areas such as providing drinking water for schools, setting up bus shelters etc.

1. Union Bank of India bags SKOCH ORDER-OF-MERIT award for Financial Inclusion Technology in Skoch Financial Inclusion & Deepening Award Conference held on 11th June 2015 at Mumbai, Maharastra.

2. Union Bank of India bags the Express Uptime Champion Award 2014 for its Network Operations.

3. Union Bank of India won 6 IBA (Indian Bank Association) Technology Awards under following categories.

4. Union Bank of India bags Financial Inclusion Technology Initiative award in the Global Conference on Financial Inclusion & Payment Systems.

5. Bank bags IDRBT IT Excellence Awards 2012-13 under 3 categories –IT Excellance Award for “Best IT Team”; Special Award for “Technology for FI” ; Special Award for “Managing  IT Risk.
