The section-wise exam analysis of IBPS SO Prelims 2019 is as follow:
IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis: English Language
The level of the English Language section was Moderate.
1. Reading Comprehension
- Number of Questions asked: Two RCs were asked comprising 10 questions each.
- Topic Details: 2 sets of reading comprehension was asked. There were also questions of Antonyms and Synonyms in it. The topic of one RC was Entrepreneurship. Another topic was based on Indian Economy.
2. Cloze Test
- Number of Questions asked: 10
3. Para jumbles
- Number of Questions asked: There were no questions on ParaJumbles.
4. Spotting Errors
- Number of Questions asked: 5
- Topic Details: Candidates had to identify the 2 parts which has the error. Level of the question was Moderate.
5. Sentence Connectors
- Number of Questions asked: 5
- Topic Details: Candidates had to identify the option which connects the given sentences.
6. Sentence Joining
- Number of Questions asked: 5
- Topic Details: Candidates had to find the correct sentence.
7. Fill in the Blanks
- Number of Questions asked: 5
- Topic Details: Single, as well as double-filler questions, were asked.
IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis of Quantitative Aptitude
There were 50 questions asked from the Quant section, each carrying 1 mark. Following topics were asked in the quantitative aptitude section:
Number Series
- 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
- It was based on the wrong series.
Quadratic Equations
- 5 Questions were asked from this topic.
- Questions were based on normal factorization and formula application.
Data Interpretation
- 3 sets of Data Interpretation questions were asked in this shift.
- One was a pie chart.
- One was based on line graph.
- Another one was a Caselete based D.I.
Miscellaneous Arithmetic Questions
- Remaining 25 questions of this section were asked from arithmetic problems.
- This included topics like Profit & Loss, Partnership, Time & Work, Time Speed & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Problem on ages, Mensuration, etc.
IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis: General Awareness
The level of the General Awareness section was also Moderate. It was the scoring section in Exam.
Most of the current affairs questions were from October to December month 2019.

IBPS SO Prelims Exam Analysis: Reasoning Ability
Puzzles and seating arrangement questions dominated the Reasoning Ability section. The overall level of this section was Moderate. Following topics were asked in the Reasoning section:
1. Puzzles & Seating Arrangement
- Number of Questions asked: 20
- Topic Details: 5 questions each were asked from the 4 sets of puzzles. Questions were from the linear puzzle, where there were 4 people facing north and 4 other facing south. Another was a square-based puzzle. The scheduling puzzle was based on 4 months and 8 people. Another was a tabular based puzzle, based on profession and age.
2. Inequality
- Number of Questions asked: 5
3. Syllogism
- Number of Questions asked: 5
- Topic Details: The level of questions was moderate. The questions were based on 'only' and 'a few' types. Two-three statements were given and there were 2 conclusions. The questions can be done easily with the help of the Venn diagram.
4. Numeric Series
- Number of Questions asked: 5
4. Coding-Decoding
- Number of Questions asked: 5
- Topic Details: Conventional type questions were asked.
5. Direction Sense
- Number of Questions asked: 2
6. Blood Relations
- Number of Questions asked: 3
7. Order and Ranking
