IBPS PO Exam Analysis 2017 of 1st Slot

  • Major Changes introduced this year:
    (a) English Language:
    The level of the section was difficult as compared to last year. The pattern of Spotting Errors was slightly changed. 
    (b) Quantitative Aptitude:
    There were no questions asked from Quadratic Equations this year. 
    (c) Reasoning Ability: The number and level of the puzzles was increased this year. 
  • Difficulty Level: Overall level of the IBPS PO exam can be categorised as Moderate. Some of the questions like Inequality etc were easy to attempt while others like Puzzles and miscellaneous questions of quant section were comparatively difficult to attempt.

Spotting Errors

  • A thorough study of grammar rules is essential to solve these questions.
  • Errors in 5 parts were given and one had to identify the parts in which there was no error

Sentence Improvement

  • A part of certain sentence was given in bold and the students had to identify the correct options which could replace the bold part of the sentence.

Simplification/ Approximation

  • BODMAS rules could be used to solve questions from this topic.

Data Interpretation

  • 2 sets were asked: a Line graph and a tabular graph was asked in this slot, with 6-7 questions in each. 
  • Questions were simple and easily doable. 

Miscellaneous Questions

  • This included questions from arithmetic problems like Age-based questions, partnership, profit & loss, time & work, mixture & alligation, simple & compound interest, time speed & distance, boats & streams, probability etc.
  • Some of the questions were a bit calculative.

Puzzles & Seating Arrangement

  • One question was asked from following:
    (a) Box based puzzle
    (b) Ranking based puzzle
    (c) Scheduling based puzzle, with weekdays and colours as additional attribute. 
    (d) Linear puzzle with people sitting in 2 rows, 5 facing north and 5 facing south. It included the colours they like as an additional parameter. 

Inequality

  • Questions were asked from direct inequality.
  • All the questions were easily doable.

Syllogism

  • Questions were asked from old pattern.
  • 3-4 questions were easily doable.

Miscellaneous Questions

  • This included questions from different topics like Blood Relations, Direction sense, Ranking etc.
