Hi friends,
I'm Sagar Mangrulkar
I have been selected as a clerk in the Central bank of India this year.
I have been preparing for the last 11 months. This has been a great journey so I wanted to share it with all of you.
I am an engineering pass out from 2016.
Being an engineer first I worked at a local company for 8 months but I wasn't satisfied with the salary and growth, so started preparing for banking exams.
IBPS Clerk Success Story of Sagar Mangrulkar
Preparation strategy:
For prelims
I used to solve 200 to 240 examples daily on grade up. First, I covered all the concepts. I had no idea how to prepare till I gave IBPS PO prelims 2017, I attempted only 38 out of 100. After that, I started practicing daily. I also cracked RBI ASSISTANT prelims but could not crack mains. 20 days prior to the exam I used to give two tests daily which helped me get the exact strategy and focus on weak topics.
For mains
I used to practice my daily plan and give one test daily. Since I had one mains experience in RBI assistant, it helped me to develop an exact strategy. In that, I covered static gk first. So many people rely on ga capsules only but I don't think it's enough. I referred different sources.
I used to watch study iq videos which gave me an exact idea about current affairs and then read the capsules of grade up, bankers adda, bsc publication.
For quant -
I covered all basic concepts. I am not an arithmetic math player so I focused on other topics. Daily practice helped me increase my calculation speed and accuracy. I used to solve 4-5 sets of DI at least 20 examples of simplification and approximation, 10 examples of the quadratic equation and number series daily. For mains, I added 20 examples of data sufficiency to it plus high-level DI.
For reasoning -
I practiced at least 4-6 sets of puzzles and seating arrangement, 20 syllogisms, and inequality, 10 blood relation, and direction sense regularly. For mains practiced high-level puzzles and 20 examples of data sufficiency daily.
For English -
My basic concepts were good so it helped me. I did not make any extra effort for this section but used to solve 20 examples of error spotting, 10 cloze test and fillers and 2 sets of RC. I covered English section through mock tests mostly since it gives an idea about the current pattern. Speed again is also the very important factor here with accuracy.
I used to complete my English section in 13-15 minutes in mock tests. For mains, I prepared through mock tests only for English.
For General Awareness-
Since it is the scoring section for mains. First, I covered static gk. I don't like reading for long so I used to watch monthly videos of study IQ on YouTube. Then only I would go through capsules of gradeup, bankers adda and bsc publication. In the last 4 day,s I revise all of it and go through quizzes on gradeup and bankers adda. Also, questions asked in attempted mocks were very helpful.
I think there is no need to give all of your time to this section only since there is a smarter way as I mentioned above.
Test series -
I used both gradeup and bankers adda.
I purchased the whole package for any exam since it covers quizzes for GA also.
So I prefer whole packages i.e pre plus mains. I did not refer any offline material, practicing online was enough.
My performance so far -
Before proper planning -
RRB PO 2017 - attempted 52, could not crack.
RRB ASSISTANT 2017 - attempted 54, could not qualify.
IBPS PO 2017 - attempted 38, could not qualify.
After proper planning -
RBI ASSISTANT 2017- prelims attempted 82, marks 76.25 | Mains attempted 128, could not qualify
IBPS CLERK 2017 - prelims attempted 80, marks 76.25 | Mains attempted 121, marks 103.4 |Selected in CBI.
Syndicate bank Manipal 2018- attempted 145, missed cut off by 3 marks.
Canara bank Manipal 2018 - attempted 139, qualified for gd and interview.
So this was my journey friends, through proper planning I managed to bring results in just four months. If I can do it then anyone can.
