Lakhs of aspirants, hundreds of seats. To get a government job in India you should have an attitude and a plan that makes you different from others.

IBPS Clerk Success Story of ASHWANI KUMAR JHA

Hello friends, my name is ASHWANI KUMAR JHA. I am from UP. I have graduated in B.Tech (IT) from BVDUCOE, Pune in 2016.

I got placement from college but due to some unavoidable reason, I left the job in December. Meanwhile, I got the scorecard of SBI PO prelims 2016 which I had given without any preparation and for my surprise, I got good marks in English which I heard as a nightmare for banking aspirants. Then I decided to prepare for government exams and especially my target was SBI PO as my father is also deputy manager in SBI.

I started my preparation from Feb 2017. First few weeks I go through syllabus, cutoffs, last year papers, etc then, I decided to prepare myself with the help of youtube and books.

Preparation Strategy for all subjects:

Maths: Watched almost all the major banking youtube channels 2-3 times for concept clarification and practice from gradeup (best place for practice any individual topic)+ followed M. TYRA for short tricks

Reasoning: First clear the concepts from youtube channels and then practice daily quizzes from gradeup. Solve puzzles as much as possible from different sources.

General Awareness- This is the easiest yet so difficult section. Because it requires deep knowledge of the topics from which questions are asked.

  • Static Awareness- I have spent daily 30 min on important topics like the dam, capital, currency, national park etc. (gradeup static awareness pdf is sufficient )
  • Current Affairs - GRADUP QUIZES+ MONTHLY GRADEUP PDFs + ADDA + AFFAIRS CLOUD DAILY QUIZZES

English- Most difficult section for the majority of aspirants.

I studied in the government school and even my English was below average. But the good thing is that during my college I used to watch Hollywood movies and debates of Arnab Goswami for fun. This thing improved my English a lot.

And during preparation, mugged up BARRONS 3500 word list+grammar from youtube channels + daily reading The Hindu editorials and practice quizzes on gradeup and adda. Consequently English has become my strongest section.

Consistency is the key to prepare English.

I never gave MOCK TESTS instead attempted section-wise quizzes from gradeup. I never used my laptop and did everything on/through my mobile. All you need is enough data pack. As u can see that I have solved  9500+ questions in gradeup so practice is the key.

List of Exams given:

  • SBI PO PRELIMS - Failed in pre by 1 marks (2-3 months of preparation)
  • IBPS RRB PRE- passed
  • IBPS RRB MAINS - failed (GA was very weak at that time + disadvantage in English section )
  • IBPS PO PRE -Passed
  • IBPS PO MAINS -failed ( cleared section-wise cutoff but missed overall by 8 marks)HERE I REALISED THE IMPORTANCE AND NUANCES OF G.A SECTION.
  • IBPS CLERK PRE - Passed
  • IBPS CLERK MAINS -Passed (BANK OF INDIA)

I know that clearing clerk in 1st attempt was not an easy task especially when vacancies were lowest and cutoffs record was high. I will still prepare for this year PO exams and has joined meritshine SBI PO online classes before the result.

You can see my marks on my gradeup page. Smart work is more important than hard work.

Best of luck guys.
Thank you
