Check out the M.Tech cutoff here. Check out IITs and NITs cutoff for M.Tech admission. Know the Factors affecting IITs & NITs cutoff for M.Tech Admission. Know some important facts.

Candidates aspiring for admission to M.Tech courses at the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs) must take the GATE 2023 exam in February 2023. The GATE cutoff is the minimum number of marks that candidates must have on their scorecard to be admitted to their preferred course and institute. GATE cutoff for IITs and NITs for 2022 will be announced after the COAP and CCMT counselling is conducted successfully for all the rounds. The GATE IIT cutoff will be governed by Centralised Counselling for MTech, COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). Another centralised counselling for NITs is CCMT (Centralized Counselling for MTech / MArch/ M.Plan).

Candidates can check below the previous year's GATE cutoff for IITs, NITs and other engineering colleges for M.Tech. admission to know the scores within which candidates were offered admission. Those candidates who meet these GATE cutoff for IITs will have higher chances of admission.

Students preparing for GATE 2023 for seeking admissions in M.Tech courses in the top NITs of the country will be able to check the NITs cutoff here. GATE cutoff for NITs 2022 is released after the declaration of counseling results. Candidates can also check previous years' GATE cutoff for NITs to predict their chances of admission. The factors that determine the NITs GATE cutoff for M.Tech admission depend on.

  1. The previous year's GATE cutoff trends help candidates to estimate the current year's cutoff.
  2. The particular branch's difficulty level is one of the most important factors for deciding the GATE cutoff for NIT.
  3. The maximum marks in NITs in various branches rise to 600-800 marks exam, so score range of 600-700 and 500-600 might be considered good.
  4. The least marks required for the GATE scorecard are known as the GATE cutoff for NITs.

Factors Determining M.Tech. Cutoff.

Candidates will be able to see the cutoff for all IITs, NITs, and other state engineering colleges on the official website of CCMT (Centralised Counselling for MTech) and COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). Each IIT's and NIT's M.Tech cutoff will differ according to year and category and based on the following factors. Let us look at of factors that will determine the M.Tech cutoff:

  • The total number of seats available in a particular course of choice of candidate.
  • The total number of candidates who qualified for the GATE examination.
  • The difficulty level of the examination through which the institute is offering admission.

Some Facts About M.Tech Cutoff

The GATE cutoff for 2023 varies as per the classification of the candidate's category. Suppose a candidate scores more than the GATE 2023 cutoff marks in their respective categories. In that case, they will be eligible for admission in the M.Tech courses offered by the participating institutes of the exam.

  • GATE cutoff will consist of the lowest scores to be guaranteed entrance probabilities into the institute.
  • GATE 2023 will be conducted in February 2023, and the cutoff for all 9 branches will be released.
  • M.Tech admissions will commence tentatively in April 2023.
  • Each IIT and NIT will be accountable for designing and releasing its cutoff.

M.Tech Admission Cut off FAQs

  • The CCMT  and CAOP authorities account for various factors, such as deciding the GATE cutoff for NITs for M.Tech admission. Below are the characteristics that determine the NITs and IITs GATE cutoff:

    • Number of applicants for the specific course.
    • Previous year’s cutoff trend.
    • Difficulty level
    • Available seats
  • For marks between 70- 80, you will get a rank between 500- 1500, which is good for getting any preferred branch in top IIT. If you have a rank up to 600, you can get NIT in the first round.

  • GATE cutoff for IITs varies from department to department. E.g., If you are a mechanical engineering student, your score should be such that you get a rank below 500, and then you will get a call from an IIT for M.Tech admissions; after that have to clear their PI to get admitted.

  •  It is not in percentage but percentile in GATE. A candidate must focus on ‘AIR’ (Rank) or GATE  Score of Marks in the paper (out of 100). For example, AIR -1- 200 ( in a few IITs, this range goes up to 500) is good to get a call from IIT.

  • The M.Tech cutoff for the CSE branch in DTU 2021 was as follows:
    CSE: 596-664 (approx. 46-52 marks)
    IT: 558-592 (approx. 43-46 marks)
    SWE: 512-585 (approx. 40-45 marks)
    AI: 523-596 (approx. 41-46 marks)
