M.Tech Admission Process 2022: The M.Tech admission process is ongoing in various colleges in India, including the IITs, NITs, and other centrally funded universities. Now candidates must be wondering whether GATE is the only exam to go for M.Tech. to pursue access to the M.Tech course, candidates may attempt any national or state level entrance exam such as GATE, UPSEE, State PG entrance exams, etc. Here, in this article, you will find various information related to the M.Tech admission process 2022.

M.Tech admission process for various IITs in India is conducted through COAP counseling after the GATE scorecard. M.Tech admissions are open in IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Dhanbad, etc., until May 2022. The M.Tech application process at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the National Institute of Technology is based on the scorecard of the GATE exam. In addition, several universities (Central, State, and private) conduct their entrance exam to offer M.Tech admission into M.Tech courses. M.Tech Admission Process 2022

According to the M.Tech admission process 2022, in order to get entrance to the M.Tech courses in the leading institutes of India, including IITs and NITs, candidates need to clear various entrance exams conducted by various conducting bodies like GATE, State SEE Exams, Private Universities, and State PG entrance exams. Candidates who wish to apply for these colleges with or without GATE can get the application form from the authorized portal of the institute where they desire to apply.

AICTE GATE Scholarship for M.Tech Admission

Candidates who clear the GATE exam will get a stipend of ₹12,400 per month, awarded as the AICTE GATE scholarship 2022. The duration of the AICTE GATE 2022 scholarship will be 24 months or the course duration the student has taken admission (whichever is lower).

M.Tech Admission Eligibility Criteria

The M.Tech admission eligibility criteria in various Institutes is that candidates must have a B.Tech or B.E. degree from an acknowledged academic institute with a valid GATE score (in central government colleges) or entrance exam scorecard of the particular college. Based on the M.Tech admission process, the minimum eligibility criteria in various engineering colleges in India are as follows. The candidates may note that if they fulfill these eligibility criteria for the M.Tech admission process 2022, would be followed at almost all colleges in the country. 

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 50-60% (depending on college to college) aggregate scores in their bachelor's engineering degree level. In addition, they should have either Science, Statistics, Computer, Maths, domains or something equivalent to these.
  • Civil Engineering Department: B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent Engineering degree in Civil/ Civil/ Environmental/ Chemical/ Structural/ Agricultural/ Construction Technology/ Construction Technology and Management with First Division or, if a division is not awarded, and CGPA/CPI is adopted, 6.75 will be considered equivalent to the first division
  • M.Tech (Computer Engineering): B.E./B.Tech. Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Computer Sci. and Engineering/ Computer Engineering/ with First Division. If a division is not awarded and CGPA/CPI is adopted, 6.75 will be equivalent to the first division. 
  • M.Tech (Electrical Engineering): B.E./B.Tech. or Engineering degree in either Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EN) with First Division. If a division is not awarded and CGPA/CPI is adopted, 6.75 will be equivalent to the first division.
  • M.Tech (Electronics Engineering): B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering with First Division or, if a division is not awarded, and CGPA/CPI is adopted, 6.75 will be considered equivalent to the first division.
  • M.Tech (Mechanical and Manufacturing): B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent. Engineering degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Manufacturing / Automobile / Aerospace Engineering/Aeronautical Engineering with First Division or, if a division is not awarded and CGPA/CPI is adopted,6.75 will be considered equivalent to the first division. 

M.Tech Admission 2022 in IITs with GATE 

GATE is the most common entrance exam the candidates pursue to get into the top M.Tech colleges of India. Candidates need to apply at the official website of the conducting authority (COAP) of the GATE exam. Applicants need to score more than the cutoff marks set by the college they want to pursue.

Candidates qualifying for the GATE exam need to apply at the college's official website with GATE entrance exam scores. A merit list will be issued on a particular date, and seat allotment will be done accordingly after candidates report to the campus.

How to Apply for GATE COAP 2022?

You can follow the steps given below to register and check admission offers through GATE COAP 2022 for the M.Tech admission process:

  • Step 1: Go to GATE COAP 2022 official website, coap.iitm.ac.in.
  • Step 2: Select 'Register Now' and complete the registration form.
  • Step 3: After completing the form, click 'Submit to Register' to validate and submit it.
  • Step 4: Login information will be provided through email or SMS; click the same to validate the email.
  • Step 5: Fill in the other data after logging in with the registered id and password (GATE score).
  • Step 6: Submit your information.

A candidate will not be able to access any information on offers made by participating academic institutions after completing the COAP registration process. However, the offer will be published on the portal and include the COAP Registration number, the same as the GATE registration number but without the topic code.

Various state-level Universities like AKTU (Dr. A.P.J.   • Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is the online counseling outlet for IIT M.Tech entrance. Therefore, candidates curious about admission to MTech in the IIT have to register at COAP besides filling out the application form for respective IITs.

  • Several universities (Central, State, and private) conduct their entrance exam to offer MTech Admission 2022.
