English Exercise on Tricks of Conjunction - II

Dear Aspirants

Here in this article, we are providing an English Exercise on Tricks of Conjunction - II based on our English Master Series Module -23. 

This Exercise will be very helpful while solving the questions of Spotting Errors and Fill in the blanks.

 

EXERCISE

1. Neither the doctor nor the nurses/ were asleep when / the injured was brought to the hospital. / No error.

2. As soon as the peon rings the bell, then all / the students come to the assembly room / for prayer. / No error.

3. Hardly had he come out of the bus / then the bomb exploded / and shattered the bus into pieces ./ No error.

4. Scarcely had I bought / the ticket when the train / left the platform with a hissing sound./ No error.

5. Many of the freedom fighters / are so respectful as Gandhiji / if not more. / No error.

6. Consider all the possibilities, / I really believe / that I would prefer / not to make any changes. / No error.

7. The reason he has / been such a success / is because he / never gives up. / No Error.

8. The customer was / angry on the clerk / for being detained / for a very long time. / No error.

9. After every boy / had submitted / their paper, the teacher / dismissed the class. / No error.

10. Any help / that you can / give will / be highly appreciate./ No error.

SOLUTION

1. No Error

2. As soon as the peon rings the bell, all  the students come to the assembly room for prayer.

Explanation – Then does not come with as soon as.

3. Hardly had he come out of the bus  when the bomb exploded  and shattered the bus into pieces .

Explanation – Hardly is followed by when.

4. No Error.

5. Many of the freedom fighters are as respectful as Gandhiji  if not more.

Explanation – So.....as is used in Negative sentences. Use as.....as in this sentence.

6. Considering all the possibilities,  I really believe that I would prefer  not to make any changes.

7. The reason why he has  been such a success  is because he never gives up.

8. The customer was  angry with the clerk  for being detained  for a very long time.

9. After every boy had submitted his paper, the teacher dismissed the class.

10. Any help that you can give will be highly appreciated.
