9. You failed to produce / any evidence to support / your plea that / you are innocent./ No error.

SOLUTION

1. My father is much quicker than I at chess.

Explanation – Much will come with quicker comparative degree.

2. Though he was brave, he could not face the ups and downs of life manfully.

Explanation –Manly is adjective, it means brave/ strong.

3. She does her work well as she is a trained nurse.

Explanation – Good is an adjective, well adverb should be used.

4.  She is either dumb or deaf, if neither.

5.  Great leaders tried to eradicate social evil practices tooth and nail.

6. Out of the six companies which have quoted for the project the only foreign-based company has been selected in spite of very high quotation price.

7. Implementation of these measures may help the Govt to generate a revenue of about Rs. 400 crores a year.
