2. Word: Reiterate (दुहराना) 

  • Pronunciation: ree-it-uh-reyt
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: say something again or a number of times, typically for emphasis or clarity.
  • Synonymsrepeat, iterate, duplicate
  • Antonyms: elapse, conceal, dismiss
  • Usage in a Sentence: My teacher reiterated all the important points two days before the exam.

 

3. Word: Trafficking (ग़ैरकानूनी व्यापार करना)

  • Pronunciation: traf-ik-ing
  • Part of Speech: Noun/Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. the act of buying or selling goods illegally: arms/drug trafficking (noun)
    b. the act of buying or selling people, or of making money from work they are forced to do, such as sex work (noun)
    c. (of vehicles or persons) to move over or through (a place) (verb)
    d. to trade or deal in (a commodity or service) (verb)
  • Synonyms: smuggling, contraband, trading
  • Antonyms: legal, legitimate, fair
  • Usage in a sentence: There has been a long standing trafficking in illegal drugs across the border.

4. Word: Rehabilitation (पुनर्वास ).

  • Pronunciation:  re-habi-lae-shun/ˌरीअˌबिलिˈटेश्‌न्‌
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    the action of bringing (someone or something) back to a normal
  • Synonyms:   Regeneration, renewal, revival, betterment
  • Antonyms: Atrophy, depletion
  • Usage in a sentence: There is an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center near our house.

5. Word: Coerce (बलपूर्वक रोकना/मजबूर करना)

  • Pronunciation: koh-urs/कोअर्स
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: 
    a. to persuade someone forcefully to do something that they are unwilling to do
  • Synonyms: force, compel, pressure, push
  • Antonyms: allow, admit, quit, agree
  • Usage in a sentence: The court heard that the six defendants had been coerced into making a confession.

6. Phrase:  Strike a blow for - (अंत )

  • Meaning - to do something to help or to support an idea, movement, or group
  • Synonyms - support, back, get behind
  • Example - Narendra Modi has struck a blow for clean India.

7. Word: Vulnerable (वेदनीय)

  • Pronunciation: vuhl-ner-uh-buhl/वल्नरबल
  • Part of Speech:Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt, as by a weapon
    b. open to moral attack, criticism, temptation, etc.
    c. (of a place) open to assault; difficult to defend
  • Synonyms: exposed, unprotected, weak, insecure, at risk
  • Antonyms: safe, secure, guarded, invincible
  • Usage in a sentence: Start-ups are very vulnerable in the business world.

8. Word: Detention (कैद)

  • Pronunciation: dih-ten-shuh n/डिटेन्शन
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning
    a. the action of detaining someone or the state of being detained in official custody.
  • Synonyms: custody, imprisonment, confinement, incarceration
  • Antonyms: redemption, release, liberation, discharge, freedom
  • Usage in a sentence: The detention raised two distinct but closely linked questions.

9. Word: Notwithstanding(तथापि/हालांकि)

  • Pronunciation: not-with-stan-ding/नाट्विद्स्टैन्डिंग
  • Part of Speech: Proposition/Adverb/Conjunction
  • Meaning:  
    a. in spite of [Proposition]
    b. nevertheless; in spite of this, anyway [Adverb]
    c. although; in spite of the fact that. [Conjunction]
  • Synonyms: all the same, still, even so
  • Antonyms: besides, beneath, underneath
  • Usage in a Sentence: I don't like playing cricket, but I will play with you notwithstanding.

10. Phrase: Invoke (शुरू करना)

  • Pronunciation: in-vohk/ इन्वोक
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning
    a. to call for with earnest desire; make supplication or pray for
    b. to call on (a deity, Muse, etc.)
    c. to declare to be binding or in effect
    d. to invoke the law; to invoke a veto
    e. to appeal to, as for confirmation
    f. to petition for help or aid
  • Synonyms: call forth, summon, conjure, evoke, appeal
  • Antonyms: dismiss, avoid, avert, abandon, demote
  • Usage in a sentence: Police can invoke the law to regulate access to these places.
