  • Usage in a sentence: The city’s bureaucracy is almost unmanageable.

 

3. Word: Skewed (तिरछा)

  • Pronunciation: skyood/ स्क्यूड
  • Part of Speech: Adjective, Verb
  • Meaning: 
    a. not accurate or exact (Adjective)
    b. suddenly change direction or position.
  • Synonyms: slanted, inclined, asymmetric, distorted
  • Antonyms: balanced, aligned, parallel
  • Usage in a sentence: The media's coverage of the election has been skewed from the very beginning.

4. Word: Persistence (दृढ़ता)

  • Pronunciation: per-sis-tuh ns/पर्सिस्टन्स
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. the continuance of an effect after its cause is removed
    b. continued existence or occurrence
    c. the fact that someone or something persists
    d. the quality of being persistent, or the act of persisting
  • Synonyms: perseverance, tenacity, determination, endurance
  • Antonyms: apathy, emotional instability
  • Usage in a sentence: Most financial analysts have been surprised by the persistence of the recession.

    b. Past tense of 'ring' [Verb]
  • Synonyms: step, level, bar, degree

6. Word: Intervention (हस्तक्षेप)

  • Pronunciation: in-ter-ven-shuh n/ इन्टर्वेन्शन

  • Meaning - place or situation affording some advantage (especially a comprehensive view or commanding perspective) 
  • Synonyms - point of view, standpoint, stand, assistance
  • Antonyms - disadvantage, disfavour, harm, hindrance

8. Word: Landmark (सीमाचिह्न)

  • Pronunciation: land-mahrk/लैन्ड्मार्क
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: 

        a. an event or discovery marking an important stage or turning point in something.

  • Synonyms: indicator, critical point, signal
  • Antonyms: monotonous, expected, modest
  • Use in Sentence: The farthest landmark visible is about 30km away.

9. Word: Downplay (महत्व कम बताना)

  • Pronunciationdoun-pley/ डैउन्प्ले
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: make (something) appear less important than it really is.
  • Synonyms: minimize, diminish, belittle, understate, reduce, devalue
  • Antonyms: overplay, overstate, overestimate, exaggerate

10. Word: Scrutiny (छान-बीन)

  • Meaning: critical observation or examination
