 3Word: Rebuke (फटकार)

  • Pronunciation: Re-bew-k/रिब्यूक
  • Part of Speech: Noun, verb
  • Meaning - express sharp disapproval or criticism of (someone) because of their behaviour or actions (Verb)
    an expression of sharp disapproval or criticism (Noun)
  • Synonyms - censure, disapproval
  • Antonyms - approval, endorsement
  • Usage in a sentence - His bad manners earned him a sharp rebuke.

4. Word: Incur (दायित्व देना)

  • Pronunciation: in-kur/इन्कर
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: become subject to (something unwelcome or unpleasant) as a result of one's own behaviour or actions.
  • Synonyms: sustain, acquire, induce
  • Antonyms: avoid, evade, dwindle
  • Usage in a Sentence: Any expenses you may incur will be chargeable to the organisation.

5. Word: Breach (उल्लंघन)

  • Pronunciation: breech/ब्रीच
  • Part of Speech: Noun/Verb
  • Meaning:  
    a. an act of breaking or failing to observe a law, agreement, or code of conduct. [Noun]
    b. make a gap in and breakthrough (a wall, barrier, or defence). [Verb]
  • Synonyms: break, violation, separation
  • Antonyms: comply, fulfill
  • Usage in a Sentence: We do not have any breach of discipline.

6. Word: Resort (सहारा लेना)

  • Pronunciation: ri-zawrt/ रिज़ॉर्ट 
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning: 
    a. a place that is frequented for holidays or recreation or for a particular purpose. (Noun)
    b. a course of action that is resorted to. (Noun)
    c. turn to and adopt (a course of action, especially an extreme or undesirable one) so as to resolve a difficult situation. (Verb)
  • Synonyms: hotel, refuge, fall back on
  • Antonym: avoid
  • Usage in a Sentence: She would never resort to the law courts to resolve her marital problems.

7. Word:  Watchdog (रक्षक)

  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. a person or group that monitors the practices of companies (noun)
    b. monitor (a person/ activity/ situation) (verb)
  • Pronunciation: वाच-डॉग (watch-dog)
  • Synonyms: Custodian, Guardian
  • Usage in Sentence: The Institute acts as an independent watchdog to look after the policies of the company. 

8. Word: Norm (मानक)

  • Pronunciation: nawrm/ नॉर्म्ज़
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning
    a. something that is usual, typical, or standard [Noun]
    b. adjust (something) to conform to a norm [Verb]
  • Synonyms: standard, usual, normal
  • Antonyms: exceptions, aberrations
  • Usage in a Sentence: The social norms cannot merely exist as constraints existing outside individuals.

9. Word: Residue (अवशेष)

  • Pronunciation: rez-i-doo/ रेज़िडू
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning
    a. a small amount of something that remains after the main part has gone or been taken or used.
    b. a substance that remains after a process such as combustion or evaporation.
  • Synonyms: remains, remainder, waste, remnant
  • Usage in a sentence: There was some kind of sticky residue on the floor.

10. Word: To the fore (सर्वोपरि)

  • Part of Speech: Idiom
  • Meaning - to become/ to make something predominant,
  • Synonyms - paramount,  most important
  • Antonyms - Minor, secondary, trivial
  • Usage in a sentence- A number of low-budget independent films brought new directors and actors to the fore.
