3. Word: Rhetoric (शब्दाडम्बर)

  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect, but which is often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content.
  • Synonyms: Elocution, Discourse, Bombast
  • Antonyms: Conciseness, Quiet
  • Use in a Sentence: As the elections are just one week away, the rhetoric on both parties is building.

4. Word: Efficacious (प्रभावशाली)

  • Pronunciation: ef-i-key-shuh s/एफकैशस
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. able to produce the intended result
  • Synonyms: effective, effectual, powerful, efficient
  • Antonyms: ineffective, inefficient, feeble
  • Usage in a sentence: Similar approaches might be efficacious with respect to insect pests of agriculture.

5. Word: Mitigate (घटाना)

  • Pronunciation: mit-i-geyt/ मिटिगेट
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: 
    a. make (something bad) less severe, serious, or painful.
    b. lessen the gravity of (an offence or mistake).
  • Synonyms: alleviate, ease, relieve, diminish

6. Word: Divisive (विभाजनात्मक)

  • Meaning: tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people.
  • Synonyms: dividing, splitting, disruptive, inharmonious
  • Antonym: unifying
  • Usage in a Sentence: The divisive issue has divided families and friends, but demonstrations had largely been peaceful until this week.

7. Word: Bugle (करनाई)

  • Pronunciation: byoo-guhl/ब्यूगल
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. a brass wind instrument resembling a cornet and sometimes having keys or valves, used typically for sounding military signals.

  • Pronunciation: advur-sireal/ऐड्वसेरी
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. pertaining to or characterized by antagonism and conflict
  • Synonyms: adverse, opposed, contradictory
  • Antonyms: mutually beneficial, as evidenced
  • Usage in a sentence: In the old days of two-party adversarial politics, voting was easy.

10. Phrase: At Play

  • Meaning:
    a. Actively playing or involved in other leisure activities.
    Active or existing as something to be considered.
  • Synonyms: at risk, in a game
  • Usage in a sentence: It's a complicated matter with several important issues at play.
