1. World Rhino Day 2024: 22nd September
- World Rhino Day is celebrated every year on 22nd September to raise awareness about the five species of rhinoceros: Black, White, Greater One-Horned, Sumatran, and Javan rhinos.
- The day is dedicated to promoting the conservation of these magnificent creatures and their habitats.
- In Asia, the greater one-horned rhino species population remained stable with a population of around 4,018 by the end of 2023.
National & International Appointments
2. Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh appointed as next Chief of Air Staff
- Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh has been appointed as the next Chief of the Air Staff.
- Mr Singh will take over as the Chief of the Air Staff from Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari on the afternoon of the 30th of this month.
- Mr. Singh was commissioned into the fighter pilot stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1984.
- He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College.

3. PM Narendra Modi attends Quad Leaders Summit in Delaware, US
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the sixth Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware.
- PM Modi has said Quad is committed to a free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
- The Quad Infrastructure Fellowship was announced at the 2023 Quad Leaders' Summit to improve capacity and deepen professional networks across the region to design, manage, and attract investment in infrastructure projects.
