1. Ebrahim Raisi wins 2021 Presidential Election of Iran
- Ultra-conservationist Ebrahim Raisi (60 years) has won 2021 Iranian presidential election, after winning 62% of the vote, which is around 17.8 million votes.
- He will succeed Hassan Rouhani.
- He will take charge of the office of President in August 2021 for four year term.
- He is presently serving as the Chief Justice of Iran since March 2019.

2. Tribal Affairs and NCERT joins hand for NISHTHA Programme
- Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) joins hand with NCERT for conducting programs across 350 functional EMRS schools across the country
- Under this collaboration, 120 EMRS teachers and principals from 3 states completed NISHTHA-National initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement Program to build competencies among teachers and school principals and Improving Quality of School Education through Integrated Teacher Training.

3. Max Verstappen wins 2021 French Grand Prix
- Red Bull’s racer Max Verstappen (Netherlands) has won the 2021 French Grand Prix, held on 20 June 2021.
- This race is the seventh round of 2021 Formula-One World Championship.
- With this victory, Max Verstappen has 131 points and now leads Lewis Hamilton (119 points) in the Formula One drivers’ title race, after seven matches.
- Britain’s Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) stood second in the 2021 French Grand Prix, followed by Sergio Perez (Mexico- Red Bull).

4. World Refugee Day: 20th June
- World Refugee Day is observed every year on June 20 to raise awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world by United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
- Theme 2021: Together we heal, learn and shine.
- United Nations General Assembly recognised this day on 4 December 2000 to mark the 50th anniversary of 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.
- It was observed for the first time on 20th June, 2001.
- UNHCR headquarters: Geneva, Switzerland.

5. Govt declares PAN linked with Aadhaar as mandatory before June 30, 2021
- Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar number to June 30, 2021 due to Covid pandemic.
- As per the new Section 234H of Income-tax Act 1961, PAN cards which are not linked to Aadhaar after June 30, 2021, would be declared ‘inoperative’ and can attract a penalty of Rs 1,000
- Permanent Account Number (PAN): 10-digit unique alphanumeric number that helps tax officials to prevent tax evasion and frauds.

6. DPIIT Secretary Guruprasad Mohapatra passes away in New Delhi
- Secretary in Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Guruprasad Mohapatra (59 years) passed away due to COVID-19 related complications in New Delhi.
- Before serving as DPIIT secretary, he served as Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
- He was a Gujarat cadre 1986 batch IAS officer, who had earlier served as joint secretary in the Department of Commerce.
- He was also a member of Gujarat Electricity Board between 2002 and 2004.

7. US to declare June 19 or Juneteenth as a national holiday
- US President Joe Biden is expected to sign a law making June 19 or ‘Juneteenth’ as a national holiday recognised by federal government
- The day is commemorated as the end of slavery after the American Civil War (1861-65).
- Juneteenth is the portmanteau of June and nineteenth and is recognised as a state holiday in 47 US states.
- It is also known as Emancipation Day or Juneteenth Independence Day.
- It will be the first new federal holiday created in almost four decades.

8. Culture Minister inaugurates Flag Satyagraha in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh
- Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel has organised Flag Satyagraha programme in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
- The programme was organised by Union Culture Ministry and IGNCA as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of Country’s independence.
- It reminisces the historic moments of Jhanda Satyagraha held in Jabalpur in 1923 when the immortal martyrs first unfurled the flag at the Town Hall with great courage.

9. World’s third-largest diamond unearthed in Botswana
- Diamond of 1,098-carat has been discovered in Botswana, by Debswana Diamond Company, a joint venture between Botswana govt and South African ‘De Beers.’
- This newly discovered diamond is believed to be the third-largest gem-quality stone ever to be mined in the world.
- It has been presented by Debswana Diamond Company to President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi.
- Cullinan stone in South Africa and Lesedi La Rona of Botswana are the other largest diamond.

10. QCI launches Indian Certification of Medical Devices (ICMED) Plus Scheme
- Quality Council of India (QCI) and Association of Indian Manufacturers of Medical Devices (AiMeD) have launched ICMED Plus Scheme that will undertake verification of the quality, safety and efficacy of medical devices.
- It has been designed to integrate Quality Management System components and product related quality validation processes through witness testing of products with reference to the defined product standards and specifications.
- ICMED was launched in 2016.
