People seek things that are most important to them, i.e., that which can fulfill their aspirations or desires. In fact, at times, two persons or groups of persons may seek things that are conflicting. That is why different people have different goals for development. But development for one may not be developed for the other. It may even be destructive for the other.

What is Development and its Type?

The process by which the economic well-being and quality of life of a nation, region, local community, or individual are improved is called development. The developmental goals that people have are not only about better income but also about other important things in life. It includes the following factors:

  • increase in real per capita income
  • improvement in the living standard of people
  • reduction in poverty
  • Improvement in the illiteracy rate
  • Reduction in the crime rate, etc.
