Write a Short Note on Tawa Matsya Sangh

Tawa Matsya Sangh is a cooperative federation formed of fish workers. This federation has the rights of displaced forest dwellers of the Satpura Forest in Madhya Pradesh. They fought for the freedom of these people after the government granted permission for free fishing to private contractors in the Tawa reservoir in 1994, as these contractors took away the area’s local people and gave jobs to cheap laborers.

Tawa Matsya Sangh
In 1914, the government permitted private contractors to fish in the Tawa Reservoir. These contractors were cruel. They considered cheap labor for doing their work rather than giving employment to already existing local people of that area. They fought for their rights for years and formed the Tawa Matsya Sangh (TMS organization).
