Who built Sudarshan Lake?

Pushyagupta Vaishya built the Sudarshan Lake on the orders of Emperor Chandragupta Maurya. Sudarshan Lake is built in the middle of a hill popularly known as the Girnar. It was the most famous irrigation work of the early Mauryan period in Junagarh, Gujarat. It got renovated later during the time of various emperors like Ashoka and Rudradman.

Sudarshan Lake
In Saurashtra, there is a lake called Sudarshan Lake in the middle of a hill called Girnaar. Chandragupta Maurya, the ancestor of the Maurya dynasty, gave the order to build this lake. This artificial reservoir was repaired in 150 AD by Rudradaman, and the Junagarh inscription gave so many clues about the building of Sudarshan Lake and its repair.
It is said that the emperor of that time wanted proper management for irrigation for the people of their city. His Governor, Pushyagupta Vaishya, worked on it and built the Sudarshan Lake. Some of the quick facts about Sudarshan Lake are as follows:

The Saurashtra Lake was built by Pushyagupta. He was an officer in the province of Chandragupta Maurya. Later on, in the Sankandgupta Period, he ordered his officer Chakarapalit to build a dam on the lake to save people from the floods. After that, the governor of Ashoka, Tushak, rebuilt the lake and a canal from it. The dam of the lake is breached due to heavy rains during Rudradaman. Repair it. Subishakh, the provincial ruler of Rudradaman, did it.
