The term Liberal Nationalism is the adherence to the principles of equality, tolerance, liberty, and individual rights. Liberal nationalism stands for many things – individual liberty, representative government, violence against private property, equality before the law, and the constitution. It is also known as civic nationalism.

Liberal Nationalism Meaning
In the early nineteenth century, the thought of national unity in Europe prevailed which was closely associated with the liberalism ideology. ‘Liberalism’ word is derived from the Latin root liber which means free. New middle-class people considered liberalism as liberty and equality before the law.
Since the French Revolution, liberalism put an end to clerical privileges and autocracy, a representative government, and a constitution through parliament. The liberals of the nineteenth century also emphasized the violence of private property.
