Uttar Pradesh Exam Regulatory Authority prescribes the UPTET exam pattern. There are two papers in the UPTET exam i.e. Paper 1 for the Primary level and Paper 2 for the Upper Primary level.

Candidates preparing for the exam should have a clear idea of the UPTET exam pattern so that they can draw up a nice study plan. The exam pattern elucidates subject-wise marks distribution, exam duration, total marks, total questions, etc. Candidates can check the UPTET exam pattern to know about each section and the total marks allocated to each section.

UPTET Paper 1 exam pattern imparts the details for the exam which is conducted to check the eligibility for Classes 1 to 5. UPTET Exam Pattern 2024

Candidates studying for the forthcoming exam should first familiarize themselves with the UPTET exam pattern. UPTET is conducted in offline mode wherein candidates are required to answer 150 questions in 150 minutes. 

The question paper for Paper 1 is divided into five sections namely Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. On the other hand, Paper 2 is segregated into four sections that are Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi), Language 2 (English or Sanskrit or Urdu), and Science & Mathematics OR Social Science.

UPTET Marking Scheme

Candidates should be aware of the UPTET marking scheme to devise their study plan accordingly. Understanding the marking scheme for the exam is just as important as knowing the UPTET exam pattern. The allocation of marks for correct and incorrect answers is part of the marking scheme.

  • According to the UPTET exam pattern, Paper 1 is conducted for a total of 150 marks wherein one question carries one mark.
  • On the other hand, Paper 2 is also organized for a total of 150 marks. Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer.

UPTET Negative Marking

There is no negative marking in the UPTET exam. It means that no mark will be deducted for wrong answer(s). So, candidates can attempt as many questions as they want to score maximum marks in the exam.

UPTET Exam Pattern FAQs

  • UP TET exam pattern for Paper 1 includes subjects such as Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, and Environment Studies. A total of 150 questions are asked and the exam duration is 150 minutes. Each section comprises 30 questions for 30 marks.

  • UPTET exam pattern for Paper 2 includes subjects such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi), Language 2 (English, Sanskrit, or Urdu), and Science and Mathematics or Social Science. Candidates have to choose any one subject from Science and Mathematics or Social Science. CDP, Language 1, and Language 2 consist of 30 questions each while Science & Mathematics or Social Science section consists of 60 questions.

  • No, there is no negative marking in the UPTET exam for incorrect answers or questions that are not attempted. Hence, candidates should attempt maximum questions in the exam.

  • To be eligible to teach classes 1st to 8th in the schools of Uttar Pradesh, candidates must take both UPTET Paper 1 and Paper 2. After qualifying both papers, candidates will be provided with a certificate stating that they are eligible to teach classes from 1st to 8th.

  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes i.e. 150 minutes for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates have to answer 150 questions in 150 minutes and no extra time will be provided to any candidates under any circumstances.

  • According to the UPTET exam pattern, the exam is a pen-and-paper-based test that is administered in an offline mode. Candidates have to mark the answer on the OMR sheet.
