Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2021- Latest Updates

Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2021 shall be conducted by the Teacher's Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu. It is a state-level test conducted once every year. This exam is specifically for aspirants from the state of Tamil Nadu. The TNTET 2021 Recruitment process shall be conducted from 31st March 2021, as per the norms laid down by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). TNTET Apply Online 2021 Process is an online process. You will find all the detailed instructions on the official website that will tell you all about filling the TNTET Application Form 2021 correctly. Please read it before you apply.

How to fill TNTET Online Application Form 2021?

Aspirants must follow the steps below to complete the TNTET Apply Online 2021 procedure successfully. 

    • Candidates must visit the official website http://trb.tn.nic.in/, to begin with, the online application process. 
    • On the official website, the aspirants must click on "online enrollment form". 
    • Fill in all the requisite details such as candidate's name, mother's name, father's name, contact details, academic details, and address.
    • Select your prefered examination centre/centres.
    • Select the exam you want to sit for, i.e. Paper I and or Paper-II. Also, select the languages you wish to attempt in the written examination.
    • Select your candidate category. 
    • Upload all the required documents such as academic documents, passport-size photograph, signature, and a photocopy of photo Id issued by India's Government. Ensure that the photograph and the signature that you upload is in JPG/JPEG/PNG format. Ensure the uploaded photograph's size is between 20 to 60Kb, and the signature is between 10-30Kb.
    • Hit the submit button.
    • Pay the TNTET Application Fee via online mode through net-banking/debit card/credit card.
  • Take a print out of the confirmation page. 

Note: All incomplete application forms shall be outrightly rejected. No application shall be accepted offline.

TNTET Eligibility Criteria 2021

Candidates who want to attempt the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2021 must have a look at the TNTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 before applying to avoid any complication. Below you will find all TNTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 for your ready reference.

  • Primary Level Teachers Minimum Qualification Requirement (Paper I)

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% scores and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education 

(or) 

Graduation with minimum 50% aggregate marks and passed or appearing in the final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.,) 

(or) 

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 45% score and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year diploma in Elementary Education by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002 

(or) 

Candidate should have a certificate of Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) 

(or) 

Candidate must hold a degree of Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

  • Upper Primary Level Teachers Minimum Qualification Requirement (Paper-II)

Applicants must have a graduation degree and are appearing or have passed a 2-year diploma in elementary education 

(or) 

candidate must be a Graduate with a minimum score of 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed 

(or) 

Candidate should have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% score and have passed or appearing in the final year of B.El.Ed. 

(or) 

Candidate should be a graduation degree holder with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed. can also apply for TNTET 2021 

(or) 

The candidate who is a Graduation degree holder with the least of 45% marks can apply for the TNTET 2021. The candidates who have qualified or appearing in the final year of B.Ed. are also eligible to apply 

(or) 

Any candidate who has qualified B.Ed. The program, affiliated by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TNTET 2021.

Note: There is no upper age limit for Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2021 test. The candidates must be at least 18 years of age. 

TNTET Selection Process 2021

The TNTET Selection Process 2021 involves two rounds. The first round involves written examinations, and the second round involves a personal interview. The written examination segment of the process comprises 2 papers, namely Paper I and Paper-II. All the candidates who want to apply as a teacher for classes 1-5 will have to sit for Paper I. All the candidates who want to apply as a teacher for classes 6-8 will have to sit Paper-II.

All the candidates who want to apply for the position of a teacher for classes 1-8 will have to sit for both the Papers. Only when a candidate qualifies for the written examination is he/she called for the personal interview. If the candidate clears this segment of the selection process, he shall receive the appointment letter after the mandatory document verification process.

  • Child Development and Pedagogy

The significant topics that must be covered in this section are physical & intellectual development during primary school years, physical, cognitive and moral development during primary school years, social and emotional development during primary school years.

  • Language I - Tamil/ Kannada/ Telugu/ Urdu/ Malayalam

the essential concepts for this section are unseen poems, comprehension, basic knowledge of sounds and their phonetic transcription, methods of evaluation, principles of teaching languages, remedial teaching, challenges of teaching languages and communicative approach to Tamil/ Kannada/ Telugu/ Urdu/ Malayalam language teaching, unseen prose passage and idioms, modal auxiliaries, phrasal verbs and literary terms and vocabulary.

  • Language II – English

The major topics that you must focus on to qualify this section include principles of teaching English, language comprehension, framing questions including wh-questions, unseen prose passage, challenges of teaching English and communicative approach to English language teaching, comprehensive & continuous evaluation, development of language skills, teaching-learning materials.

  • Mathematics

  • Science 

Some important topics that are covered in Science are chemical substances, animal reproduction and adolescence, force and motion, evaluation, heat, innovation, human body and health, light and sound, methods of science teaching, living beings, microorganisms, nature and structure of sciences, natural Science, problems, Science and technology, remedial teaching, solar system, text materials/aids, the structure of matter and understanding the Science.

  • Environmental Studies

Topics that are essential in Environmental Studies are keeping healthy and clean, clothes and habitats, environment education learning principles, small creatures around the children, family and friends, food, shelter, water, travel and plants.

  • Social Studies

History - Pre-historic Period, Indus Valley Civilization, Ancient Land of Thamizhagam, Vedic Period, Jainism and Buddhism, Rise of Empires, Kushana Empire, The Great Mughals, Rise of the Marathas-Shivaji Administration, Advent of the Europeans, Anglo-French Struggle, Rule of The English East India Company, The Nayak Rule 1773 to 1857 in Tamil Country, and Vellore Mutiny.

The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu shall be publishing the TNTET Admit Card 2021, 7 to 10 days before the test. Applicants can download their individual admit cards on the official website. It is mandatory for all aspirants to carry the TNTET Admit Card 2021 to the examination hall. It is also important that your Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2021 admit card contains the correct information. 

Steps to Download TNTET Admit Card 2021

To download the TNTET Admit Card, 2021 online aspirants must follow the below-given steps: 

  • Step 1: Firstly, visit the official website of the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu- http://trb.tn.nic.in/
  • Step 2: Next, on the homepage of Teachers Recruitment Board, click on the option "Admit card".
  • Step 3: Input your User Id and password in the indicated fields and log in
  • Step 4: Click on the link "download admit card". Once it is downloaded, it is important to verify the data that is specified on the TNTET Admit Card 2021.
  • Step 5: Print out a few copies of the TNTET Admit Card 2021.
