The Government of Bihar has released the notification regarding the cancellation of the Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET). In a letter by the Director of Primary Education to the Secretary, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) states that the Bihar TET Exam 2022 will not be conducted this year with immediate effect.

Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has made it clear that BTET 2022 will not be conducted this year only to complete the seventh phase of teaching resumption soon.

According to the letter, as the Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted every year and the eligibility criteria for both the exams are the same, therefore, the Board does not find the necessity to conduct the Bihar TET Exam 2022 separately. Thus, the CTET Scores will be accepted by the Bihar Government for the recruitment of candidates for the respective posts.

This comes after the Patna High Court directed the Government of Bihar considers conducting the Bihar TET Exam 2022 asap. In response to this, the chairmanship of Deepak Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Education) called for a high-level review meeting. After the meeting, the Bihar Government decided to cancel the Bihar TET Exam 2022 with immediate effect and consider the CTET scores for recruitment of the eligible candidates for the teaching post in Government Schools of Bihar.

The letter further states, that according to the Bihar Elementary School Service (Appointment, Promotion, Transfer, Disciplinary Proceeding and Service Condition) Rules 2020, a candidate who has qualified for the CTET or Bihar TET is eligible to apply for the State Recruitment Exams. Thus, the Bihar Government has decided to consider the CTET Scores and not conduct the Bihar TET Exam 2022. The Government of Bihar will consider conducting the Bihar TET in future and take adequate measures if the need for such a step arises.

Educational Qualification: Below is the educational qualification required by the candidates to fulfill in order to be eligible to apply for the exam.

I-V (Primary Level):

• Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
• Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks and have also passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or
• Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

VI-VII (Upper Primary Level):

• Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/ passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education B.El.Ed/B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
• Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
