Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) conducts the HPPSC recruitment for the position of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Here are the basic details you must know before applying for the HPSET exam.

Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test or HPSET is an entrance test that is conducted on a state-level basis in offline mode by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). Applicants who appear in the exam, have to solve two papers i.e. Paper 1, and Paper 2. Every candidate has to solve both the papers and score well to get shortlisted for the next round of HPSET recruitment.

As per the exam pattern, paper 1 consists of common subjects, whereas, candidates have the option to choose the subject of paper 2 from the given 22 subjects. After the recruitment notification for HPSET 2023 candidates can apply by paying an application fee according to their category.

As mentioned earlier, completing the HP SET eligibility criteria is mandatory to apply for this exam. There is no age limit for the exam. It means candidates who complete the educational qualifications, can apply for the HPSET 2023. There are a few points of the criteria mentioned below.

• Applicants must have a master’s degree in Humanities (including language) from any recognized university.
• A minimum 55% score is required in Post Graduation for UR candidates to apply for HPSET 2023. 
• 50% is required for reserved category applicants of Himachal Pradesh State, they will have 5% relaxation.
• Candidates who hold a Ph.D. degree and completed their Master’s degree by 19 Sept 1991, can avail of 5% relaxation in required marks. They will be eligible if they scored 50% marks in PG.
• They have to submit their result within 2 years of passing the HP SET Exam.
• In case any candidate has pursued their Post graduation from a foreign university then they have to check with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• 40% of Physically disabled candidates who can not write their papers can apply for scribe in the exam.

The Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test or HPSET is a state-level exam and every candidate will be recruited according to the selection process. 6% of the total appearing candidate will be selected for the next round of the recruitment process. Candidates have to present themselves along with documents for document verification and to complete the selection process for HPSET 2023.

• Step 1 - Candidates need to visit the official website of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission
• Step 2 - Complete the registration by filling out the HP SET application form with your Name, email ID, phone number, and other personal details, including academic details.
• Step 3 - Check the details once again before submitting the application form.
• Step 4 - Now, choose the exam center and city according to your preference
• Step 5- Upload scanned photo and signature of the candidate
• Step 6 - Pay the application fee for HPSET 2023, according to your category, and take a printout of it.

HPSET 2023: Application Fee

HPSET application fee will be accepted only if is paid by using online payment methods like Credit or Debit Card. You may have to pay a few percent of the processing fee. It is the last stage of application. Keep in mind that the HP SET application fee is not the same for every category of applicant and candidates from Himachal Pradesh state will get priority in the selection process.

There will be 22 subjects to choose from for Paper 2. According to the HPSET syllabus, every subject of paper 2 will be different. Having accurate information about the HPSET exam pattern 2023 will give you an advantage compared to other applicants. There will be two papers in the exam that are Paper-1 and Paper-2. Paper 1 will be common for every applicant whereas, the subject for Paper 2 can be chosen by the candidate. Here are a few important points of the HP SET exam pattern that you need to keep in mind.

• A total of 150 MCQs (multiple choice questions) will be asked in the exam.
• 50 questions in Paper-1 and 100 questions in Paper-2.
• The test of both papers will be on the same day.

• The language medium for the question paper will be Hindi and English.
• Candidates must score at least 40% marks in both papers to qualify.
• Reserved category applicants will get a relaxation of 5% marks.

Step 3 - Click on HPSET 2023 Admit Card link, (when available).

Step 4 - Use your credentials to download the hall ticket and get a printout.

The HPSET answer key can be downloaded from the official website of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission a few days after the completion of the exam. Studying the answer key helps applicants evaluate their performance in the exam and raise a query if they find any mistake in the officially released answer key. Hence, the authorities release two different answer keys and activate the objection window after the first. The HPPSC will release the HP SET 2023 results on the official website for candidates who appeared in the exam. It may take up to 1 to 2 months to release the scorecard after the exam. The result will be uploaded in PDF format that will have category and subject-wise scores.
