KPSC-KAS Examination 2020
The KPSC is authorised to conduct the Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) Examination for the recruitment of State Civil Servants. As the vacancies have been notified in the year 2020, let us have a glance at the pattern in the contemporary developments in the State and the Indian subcontinent.
With growing awareness and a limited number of posts released, the competition seems to be tougher with each passing year. Like many prestigious examinations in the country, the KPSC-KAS Examination is also conducted in three stages: Preliminary, Main and Interview. With the release of the notification, it is advisable that candidate must gear up for entering the exam race.

Vacancies:
The KPSC-KAS Recruitment 2020 for gazetted probationers notified 106 vacancies for Group A and Group B officers. The KPSC-KAS is a State level entrance examination to fill the vacancies in the state civil services for the top managerial posts of the State Govt. The KPSC has announced seven Grade A and ninety-nine Group B posts to be filled. The details are as follows:

Eligibility:
- Age: To attempt the KPSC KAS exam, the candidate must not be less than 21 years of age as on the last date of the KAS application form. The maximum age limit for applying for KAS exam is 35 years.

2. Educational Qualification: A candidate must be a graduate from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification. A candidate pursuing the final semester can also apply and must submit the proof of passing the Examination at the time of documentation.

Steps involved in KPSC KAS 2020 application
- The link shared above will navigate to the KPSC official website – kpsc.kar.nic.in.
- Click on the “Apply Online-Admission Ticket Download” button, links for all the current KPSC recruitment exams will appear.
- To apply for State Services, click on “Gazetted Probationers Exam”, which will subsequently navigate through KPSC-KAS Notification and online application.
- Before application, click on “Apply Button” and read detailed instructions carefully for filling the KAS exam application.
- On clicking the “New Registration” button fill the KPSC KAS online application form.
- Upload files of scanned passport-sized photograph and signature.
- After filling the form, with utmost care review the information provided so that discrepancies can be avoided later (during the release of admit cards).
- Finally, click the “submit” button to take a printout as a record.
- Be vigilant of the Registration ID and Password allotted will be needed later to log into your account.

Mode of Payment: Deposit the fee prescribed in the payslip, generated after filling up the form, at the nearest e-payment post office. No other method of fee payment is applicable. So, avoid the last-minute hustle and fill the form well within the last date.
Note: In case of non-payment of fees, KPSC application form will be considered invalid. Fee once paid is non-refundable.
Please remember the KPSC KAS recruitment for the year 2020 has not started yet. In this regard, an official notification by the commission is awaited. The recruitment for the year 2020 will be notified after the complete selection process for KPSC-KAS 2017-18 and the subsequent years is done. An update will be made as soon as the official notification is out.
KPSC-KAS Selection Procedure:
As mentioned earlier, the KPSC-KAS Examination is conducted in three stages:
Stage I: Preliminary Examination
Stage II: Main Examination
Stage III: Interview
Before appearing for each Stage, the candidate must qualify the previous one.

KPSC-KAS Main Examination Pattern
The candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination can appear the Main. The list of qualified candidates from Prelims, the number of which usually does not exceed 20 times the number of vacancies are eligible to appear for the Main Examination.

- The KPSC-KAS Main Exam has nine papers, of 2 are qualifying, 4 are the general papers and two optional papers.
- The KPSC-KAS Main Exam includes a rigorous examination of total marks
- The questions are in the KPSC-KAS Main Exam are descriptive.
- There is a choice available to either appear them in English or Kannada medium.
- The optional papers can be selected from the list of subjects enlisted in the notification.
- The language papers - qualifying, are of 150 marks each.
- The Essay and General Studies & Optional Papers are of 250 marks each.
- The difficulty level of the questions asked in these papers is of graduation level.
KPSC-KAS Interview
The candidates shortlisted for interview are generally 3 to 5 times the number of vacancies. The interview carries 200 marks. For an examiner, the interview is a chance to gaze into a candidate’s personality. The interview is conducted to gaze into the personality traits of that of an administrator such as intellectual calibre, collaborative leadership, social awareness, perseverance, the balance of IQ vs EQ, and a realist view of the world around him. Therefore, questions are asked to explore these traits.
The final selection is confirmed when the candidate is in the merit list. The merit list is prepared considering the marks obtained in the compulsory papers of KPSC-KAS Main Examination. The rank in the merit list decides the service allotted to a candidate.
