CGPSC Age Limit – Educational Qualification, Physical Eligibility

CGPSC age limit is an important eligibility parameter for exam applicants. CGPSC, also known as Chhattisgarh Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), is conducted by the state government of Chhattisgarh to recruit eligible and interested candidates. It is one of the most competitive exams in the state. In order to take this exam, the interested candidates must meet all the eligibility conditions mainly including the CGPSC age limit.

If the candidates fail to meet any of the eligibility conditions, they will not be considered qualified to sit for the CGPSC exam 2023. The CGPSC Eligibility Criteria 2023, such as age limit, nationality requirements, educational qualification, and age relaxations.

CGPSC Eligibility 2023

Adhering to the CGPSC Eligibility criteria is of utmost importance when applying for the exam. Being one of the highest level exams in the state, the level can not be underestimated. To avoid any kind of disappointments and disqualification at later stages, candidates should first go through the detailed eligibility criterion which specifically inlcudes the CGPSC age limit.

There will not be any kind of relaxation whatsoever with respect to any eligibility parameter. Candidates need to be careful with all the documents and information that they provide in the online application form to avoid cancellation of candidature ahead. The eligibility criteria will include nationality, educational qualifications, age limit and age relaxation norms.

CGPSC Eligibility Criteria – Nationality

As per CGPSC eligibility 2023, the candidates who are interested in taking up the CGPSC must be citizens of India. For candidates who have relocated to India have different criteria that they need to fulfill. 

CGPSC Age Limit

Interested candidates must have completed the minimum age of 21 years and not have attained the maximum age of 30 years as of the cut-off date. However, for candidates who are domicile/permanent residents of the State of Chhattisgarh, the maximum age limit is specified as 35 years. Note that the State Government has the power to alter the lower and upper age limits for any of the services with respect to the necessities of the services.

As per the latest official notice regarding CGPSC age limit relaxation for government servant,  the commission has clarified that there is relaxation of 05 years in the maximum age limit only.

CGPSC Age Relaxation

The above-prescribed CGPSC age limit can be relaxed based on several conditions. The age relaxation is effective in the following cases.

Relaxation in CGPSC Age Limit

Conditions

Maximum of 3 years

If the interested candidate is a bonafide repatriate of Indian origin from Burma, who relocated to India on or after 1st June 1963 OR Srilanka, who moved to India after 1st November 1964 OR If the Candidate is a bonafide displaced person from East Pakistan – now Bangladesh – and had migrated to India in between 1st January 1964 and 25th March 1971.

 

In the case of Defense Services personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.

 

If the candidate is a retrenched Government servant, after deducting from his age the period of all temporary service previously rendered by him up to a maximum of seven years.

Maximum of 5 years

A candidate who is a permanent resident in Chhattisgarh belongs to a caste or tribe declared as a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe or OBC by the Government of Chhattisgarh.

The candidate is a widow on her first appointment.

 

The candidate is a forward partner of a prize-winning couple under the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme as sponsored by the Tribal, Harijan, and Backward Class Welfare Department as per GAD Memo No. C-1085-3-1, dated 3-9-1985

 

The candidate is a sports person honoured with the Gundadhur Samman or Maharaja Pravirchandra Bhanj Deo Samman or Shaheed Rajeev Pandey Award or Rashtriya Yuva awarded as per GAD memo No- F19-2/2005/1-3 Raipur dated 01-12-2006.

 

For the Commissioned Officers and Ex-servicemen including SSCOs/ECOs who have completed a minimum of five-year Military Service as on 1st January preceding the date of commencement of the examination. Also, they must have been released on completion of their assignment (even for those whose assignment is due to be finished within six months from the designated date). 

Maximum of 8 years

If and only If the candidate is a repatriate or was a displaced person as mentioned above and belongs to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, or OBC as notified by Government of Chhattisgarh and is a permanent resident living in Chhattisgarh.

 

If the candidate filing under the category supra belongs to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe or OBC as recognized by the Government of Chhattisgarh. 

Maximum of 10 years

For those who come under the category supra belonging to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe or OBC as recognized by the state government

 

For exclusively women candidates in accordance with the Rajpatra (Asadharan) date 7.2.1997, Published rule C.G. civil service (Special provision of appointment for women) Rule 1997

 

If the candidate is physically challenged and is applying to the service/posts class III. In this case, they must submit his disability certificate stating not less than 40% as issued by the respective authority.

  • In case of the Permanent or the Temporary employees of either of Central Government, State Government OR any undertaking of Central Government will be entitled to an age relaxation of up to a maximum 38 years.
  • As per the General Administration Department’s circular no. F 1-2/2002/1/3 dated 02/06/2004, the Shiksha Karmi of Chhattisgarh state are also eligible for relaxation. In this case, the maximum age limit will be equal to the number of years for which they have worked as Shiksha karmi.
  • However, to make calculations easier, a period of more than 6 months is treated as one year. Also, the benefit of this age relaxation can be availed only up to a maximum of 45 years of age.

CGPSC Educational Qualification 2023

The CGPSC minimum qualification criteria states that the candidate should be fit both physically as well as mentally. They must not have any physical defect which will be likely to interfere with their capabilities to discharge his/her duties as an employee of the, particularly obtained service.

After the medical examination as prescribed by the Government or the selection authority, if a candidate is found to be not fulfilling these necessary requirements, then he or she will not be considered for appointment. 

CGPSC Education Qualification

The CGPSC Education Qualification criteria states that the candidate must have completed a degree from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. Even other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or which is declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956 is also considered eligible. 

Important Note – I: Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination but have not yet received their results or candidates who intend to appear for the qualifying examination are also eligible for taking up the Preliminary exam. However, it is mandatory for all candidates who are announced as qualified by the Commission for taking the State Services (Main) Examination to provide the record of passing the requisite examination accompanying their application for the CGPSC Mains Examination 2023.

Important Note – II: Candidates holding professional and technical qualifications that are approved by the State Government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees are also deemed to be eligible. 

CGPSC Physical Eligibility

The Chattisgarh Public Service Commission clearly states that the candidates applying for the jobs must ensure that they are physically and mentally fit for the job role. Proof will be required at the time of interview which will be duly verified. Check minimum standards of height and chest for qualified candidates.
