According to the GATE exam pattern for CSE, there are two sections in the exam. The General Aptitude has 10 questions and the core subject & Engineering Mathematics has 55 questions. GATE Computer Science Engineering Marking Scheme

As per the official GATE CSE exam pattern, the exam has a mixed number of questions of 1 and 2 marks. There is a negative marking of 1/3 marks on the questions of 1 mark and 2/3 marks are deducted on the incorrect answers of 2 marks MCQs. There will be zero marks for unattempted questions. However, there is no negative marking for the incorrect numerical answer-type and multiple-select questions.
