GATE CS Counselling 2022

GATE CS Counselling 2022 will begin after the declaration of GATE Computer Science Engineering Scorecard. Candidates with a valid GATE Scorecard of the last three years, i.e. 2022, 2021, 2020 will be able to apply for GATE CSE Counselling. The GATE Computer Science Counselling is done through the following two methods for taking admissions into M.Tech programmes in IITs. NITs, GFTI, and other institutions. 

  1. GATE Couselling through COAP: Through the GATE COAP counselling, candidates can apply for M. Tech course in the participating IITs and IISC Bangalore. 
  2. GATE Counselling through CCMT: Through the GATE CCMT Counselling, candidates can apply for M. Tech courses that are offered by the NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.

Further, the private universities conduct their own admission procedure for admission through GATE for M. Tech courses. Read further, to know more about GATE 2022 Counselling for CS. 

It is worthwhile to know that CCMT counselling is conducted for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFITs. For IITs, while COAP is conducted for admission to IITs. Candidates should also know that state and private universities can conduct their own counselling based on GATE scores. Using the GATE counselling process, candidates will be allotted their respective colleges based on their GATE scores.

GATE CSE Counselling Through COAP & CCMT

As already discussed, the GATE CSE Counselling is done through two methods,  Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralized Counselling for M. Tech, M. Arch, M. Planning (CCMT). Let us now explain to you the admission process through COAP and CCMT.

GATE CSE Counseling Through COAP

Candidates with valid GATE Score can take admission for M.Tech courses in the participating IITs and IISC Bangalore. All the participating IITs upload the admission offer for the M.Tech course as per the GATE Score. The selection of candidate depends upon the availability of seats.

IISc Bangalore Admission through GATE

Candidates aspiring for taking admission in IISC Bangalore will have to apply through the GATE COAP portal. The process for admission into IISC Bangalore comprises an Interview that has a weightage of 30% and a GATE Score with a weightage of 70%. 

GATE CSE Counselling Through CCMT

GATE CCMT Counselling is done for all the NITs and GFTIs in the country for M. Tech, M. Arch, M. Planning courses for the candidates who hold GATE Scorecard. Different dates are announced for the CCMT Counselling on the CCMT portal.

How to Apply for GATE CSE Counselling 2022?

The GATE CSE Counselling involves the following stages for filling up the GATE COAP and CCMT forms.

Step 1: Online Registration on CCMT/COAP portal

Step 2: Online Filling and Locking of Choices

Step 3: Verification of Documents

Step 4: Seat Allotment

Step 5: Reporting to the Allotted Institute

GATE Counselling Process

GATE Counselling follows the following three procedures for accepting and rejecting the choice given to a candidate. 

  • Accept and Freeze: Accepting and Freezing term means that you have accepted the allotted seat and do not want up-gradation.
  • Retain and Wait: Selection of this option means that you have accepted the given seat but wants up-gradation. 
  • Reject and Wait: This means that a candidate does not want to accept any of the offers available.
