XAT 2022 Analysis: XAT Exam Review, Expected Cut Off, Analysis, Questions Asked, Good Attempts

XAT 2022 Analysis, Exam Review: XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) 2022 was conducted successfully on 2nd January 2022 across several centres in the country. XAT 2022 was conducted in a single slot from 9:30 AM- 12:40 PM. With the release of its admit card, XAT officials also notified the change in the exam pattern of XAT 2022. The following changes were observed in XAT 2022:

  • This year Essay was reintroduced in Part -2 of the paper. However, Essay shall be evaluated after the candidate has been shortlisted for the interview.
  • The total number of questions for XAT 2022 was 101.
  • The duration of the paper was increased from 180 minutes to 190 minutes this year. 
  • Few candidates faced technical issues. It was difficult to attempt the Essay section while moving the cursor back to the previous text while typing the answer in case if someone wanted to change something.
  • Few candidates also reported that the Caps lock was not functioning properly.
  • Some candidates complained that their Keyboard wasn't working which made it difficult for them to write the Essay section.

XAT 2022 exam was conducted by XLRI on behalf of XAMI. XAT is taken by aspirants who wish to get admission in XLRI or any of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (or XAMI). Important Highlights of XAT 2022 Exam

  • XAT 2022 was conducted on 2nd January 2022 in one slot (9:30 AM - 12:40 PM)
  • There were a total of 101 questions which included 100 MCQs and 1 Essay question
  • Essay section was reintroduced in XAT 2022 after XAT 2018
  • Each MCQ included five options with one correct option
  • XAT 2022 paper consisted of two time-bound parts. Part 1 -165 minutes and Part 2 - 25 Minutes
  • For each correct response,+ 1 is rewarded and for each incorrect 0.25 is to be deducted
  • Negative marks awarded for every unattempted question after 8 unattempted questions: -0.10 mark
  • There is no negative marking for the General Knowledge questions

  • Every right answer will add 1 mark and every wrong answer will reduce 0.25 mark

Highlights of XAT 2022 Exam

  • The overall difficulty level was Moderate
  • Quant & DI were relatively on the easier side
  • DM and Verbal were similar with DM slightly more difficult.

XAT 2022 Paper Analysis: Difficulty Level

As per the XAT 2022 analysis given by BYJU’S Exam Prep Experts the overall difficulty level of the XAT 2022 paper was Moderate. The reintroduced section on Essay consisted of two topics wherein a candidate had to write the essay on one of them.

 XAT Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning Paper Analysis 2022

The Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning section had a total of 26 questions. This section was Moderate. It was seen that questions from RCs dominated this section. This section had 12 questions from 4 RCs. The RCs had a Moderate level of difficulty. The word limit of the RCs was around 350 words. The RCs were on the following topics:​

  • Stupidity (3 Questions) 
  • Bull Shitting Vs Lying (3 Questions) 
  • Hedonic life and Eudaimonic life (3 Questions)
  • Publicness, Sociability, Privacy (3 Questions)

Poem Based

  • Mistaken Love (1 Question)
  • I had a voice, now I have legs (2 Questions)

The Critical Reasoning questions included all Conclusions questions. The four questions on Critical reasoning comprised of the following topics:

  • Unreflective thinkers
  • Mass Extinction and Geological pulse
  • Labour vs Work
  • Swiss Cheese Model and Accidents

XAT Decision Making Paper Analysis 2022

This section had a total of 21 questions. This section had a Moderate level of difficulty. There were a total of 7 Case studies. The DM section has been interesting to solve in XAT because of the cases in it. The cases were on the following genres:

  • Research in Engg. College by Teachers
  • School Fees issue due to COVID
  • Construction of a bridge in the village
  • Assignment given to students
  • Resident Scientists in a PSU
  • Old SUV of the doctor
  • Dosa Seller in front of the hospital

The level of difficulty of the GK Section was Moderate. A total of 25 questions were asked from this section. This section comprised of questions from both Static and Current Affairs. Many topics asked in the paper were discussed in BYJU'S Exam Prep GK classes taken by our Experts.

XAT 2022 Essay Section Topics

The Essay section consisted of two topics out of which the candidate had to write an essay on any one of the following topics. The word limit was 250 words. In case if the candidate wanted to type more beyond the 250 words the system will not take the input. It is however to be noted that Essay would be evaluated only if the candidate is shortlisted for the interview.

  •  Essay 1- Capitalism and Democracy cannot co-exist 
  •  Essay 2-Stellar performances in academics are sought by institutions but such people make average managers
