MPSC PSI Eligibility Criteria

The MPSC will conduct MPSC PSI Departmental 2022 exam to select eligible candidates for the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) in Maharashtra. MPSC PSI is a prestigious job in the Maharashtra Police Department and a dream job for millions of aspirants across the state.

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has notified the eligibility criteria for MPSC PSI Exam 2022. Applicants who want to apply for the post of PSI Departmental must first check and confirm whether the various criteria under MPSC PSI eligibility have been met. Candidates can proceed to fill MPSC PSI application after fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

The application is rejected due to non-compliance with the MPSC PSI eligibility criteria 2022. The candidature is canceled if any discrepancies are found in the details provided by the applicants. The eligible applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can fill up the MPSC PSI application form 2022.

MPSC PSI Age Limit & Age Relaxation

MPSC PSI age limit is an essential factor in the eligibility criteria. Therefore, candidates applying for MPSC PSI Exam should check the age for the PSI posts before filling out the application form. PSI Age Relaxation

  • As per the Sub-Inspector of Police (Admission to Service) (Third Amendment) Rules, 2008, candidates who have not had three consecutive chances of the examination before the completion of the maximum PSI age limit due to non-examination in a year will be given the remaining opportunity to appear for the examination after the maximum age limit. However, in any case, these consecutive opportunities would not exceed three. 
  • Suppose the candidate has not applied for an examination even after getting three consecutive chances of the examination before completing the maximum age limit. In that case, the concerned candidate will be deemed to have taken the opportunity for this examination.

MPSC PSI Qualification

The various educational requirements as per MPSC PSI Eligibility Criteria 2022 are as under:

  • At present, only the cadre of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Police Constable, Police Naik, Police Sepoy, working under the Home Department (Government of Maharashtra), will be eligible for the examination.

From the date of regular appointment to the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Police Havaldar, Police Naik, and Police Sepoy, minimum regular service must be completed as of 1st January 2022 as follows:

  • In the case of candidates who are graduates of any branch of a recognized university - 4 years of regular service. 
  • In the case of such candidates who have passed the HSC examination of the Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or the qualification recognized by the Government of Maharashtra as equivalent to HSC, - 5 years of regular service 
  • In the case of such candidates who have passed the SSC examination of the Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or the qualification recognized by the Government of Maharashtra as equivalent to SSC - 6 years of regular service

MPSC PSI Physical Requirement

Candidates who qualify on the basis of the results of the main written examination have to undergo a physical test and the candidates should practice and prepare for it in time. The physical test will usually be conducted anytime at a gap of two weeks after the results of the main written test.

The date of the physical test cannot be changed or complained about on the ground that there is not enough time for practice. As soon as the schedule of the PSI physical requirement test is finalized by the Commission, it will be published on the Commission's website. Also, the respective eligible candidates in the Online Application System of the Commission will be informed through their profiles.

  • Pull-Ups - 20 Marks
  • Long Jump – 15 Marks
  • Running (800 Meters) – 50 Marks
  • Shot Put (4 KG)- 20 Marks
  • Running (200 Meters) – 40 Marks
  • Walking (3 KM) – 40 Marks

MPSC PSI Number of Attempts

The MPSC commission has not issued the notice regarding the number of attempts in the MPSC PSI Exam 2022. This means that for the PSI exam, there is no maximum number of attempts.

The PSI Exam consists of 3 stages during their recruitment process, which must be explained to the candidates to prepare them through the PSI selection process. The 3 stages are as follow: 

  • Stage 1: MPSC PSI Prelims Exam
  • Stage 2: MPSC PSI Mains Exam
  • Stage 3: MPSC PSI Physical Test

MPSC PSI Exam Eligibility Criteria FAQs

  • The age limit for general candidates is between 35 and 40 years, and some relaxation is provided for reserved categories.

  • At present, only the cadre of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Police Constable, Police Naik, Police Sepoy, working under the Home Department (Government of Maharashtra), will be eligible for the examination.

  • There is no prior experience required for the MPSC PSI exam 2022. Candidates who are working in police department are eligible for the exam.

  • The physical requirement for the Male applicants are as follows, the height must be more than 165 CM, and for females, the height must be more than 157 CM.

  • Female candidates have no separate age relaxations in the MPSC PSI exam. Females will be treated similarly to male candidates for age limit criteria.
