Maharashtra Districts
- In India, the state of Maharashtra is located in the western and central parts of the country. The state has a lengthy coastline (720 km) near the Arabian Sea.
- Maharashtra came into existence on 1st May 1960; This day is celebrated as Maharashtra Day.
- Maharashtra is the 2nd biggest state in India regarding population and third in the geographical area.
- According to the 2011 census, 3% of the total population lives in Maharashtra, and the state is highly urbanized, with 45.2% living in urban areas.
- Maharashtra has 35 districts, which are divided into six revenue divisions, namely Aurangabad, Amravati, Konkan, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur.
- Maharashtra has five Madhya Pradesh based on geographical, political, historical and cultural sentiments.

- Vidarbha
- Note: Maharashtra has a long tradition of having statutory bodies for planning at the district level.
- There are 33 Zilla Parishads, 351 Panchayat Samitis and 27,906 Gram Panchayats for effective local government.
- Urban areas are controlled by 26 Municipal Corporations, 219 Municipal Councils, 7 Nagar Panchayats and 7 Cantonment Boards.
