Today, we will discuss the sale of Apache Attack Helicopters!

  • The United States has approved the deal for the sale of 6 Apache Attack Helicopters to India. 
  • The estimated cost of this deal is USD 930 million. 
  • With the help of these AH-64E Apache Attack helicopters, India will be able to strengthen the defence of its homeland and deter ground-armoured threats. 
  • The prime contractors of the deal are US arms as well as Aviation and engineering giants Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Raytheon.
  • The announcement was made by the Defence Security Cooperation Agency of the Pentagon. 
  • Apart from these helicopters, India will also receive Hellfire Longbow missiles, Night vision sensors, Fire control radars, Stinger Block I-92H missiles as well as Inertial navigation systems as part of the contract.
