The post of Assistant Commandant within the ICG is only open for candidates within a specific age bracket. Indian Coast Guard Age Relaxation

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Qualification

Only those candidates who meet the Indian Coast Guard qualification criteria will be allowed to apply. Candidates must also go through the entire Indian Coast Guard selection process before applying. Engineering degree of a recognized university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

As per Indian Coast Guard eligibility criteria, candidates must have taken Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the subjects.

Tech (Elec.)

Engineering degree of a recognized university in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognized by the Institutes of the Engineers (India).


Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics.

Law

Law degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

Note that the candidates who have completed graduation after diploma can also apply if they possess an aggregate of 55% marks in diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum. Another thing about Indian Coast Guard eligibility that candidates must know is that for SC/ST candidates, a 5% relaxation in degree certificate would be provided.

Indian Coast Guard Height and Weight

Candidates will have to meet the height and weight requirement as specified in the Indian Coast Guard eligibility criteria. The candidates who do not meet the requirements will not be considered for the job. Find the details about the height and weight requirement for different branches given below:

  • Assistant Commandant (GD) and Tech - Minimum height should be 157 cm. For candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas, relaxation will be given in accordance with government regulations.
  • Assistant Commandant (CPL-SSA) (Men/Women) - Minimum 162.5 cm and maximum 197 cm. Leg length should be 99 cm minimum.

As per the criteria for Indian Coast Guard height and weight, the weight of the candidate should be proportionate to the height and age. A 10 % difference may be acceptable.

Indian Coast Guard Eligibility: Medical Standards

Candidates who are shortlisted by the Final Selection Board (FSB) after the Indian Coast Guard Assitant Commandant exam 2022 will be required to undergo a medical examination at a Military Hospital. The medical standards required by the ICG are quite strict. Any candidate who is found to not meet the Indian Coast Guard eligibility criteria will be considered ineligible.   • Chest - Should be proportionate to the body. The minimum expansion required is 5 cms.
  • Eye Sight - 6/6, 6/9 for AC (GD), 6/6, 6/9 for AC (CPL), 6/36, 6/36 for AC (Tech).
  • Tattoo - Only permitted on the inner face of forearms and reverse side of the palm. Relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to tribal communities.
  • To pass the Indian Coast Guard medical eligibility, candidates must ensure that they are in the best physical and mental condition.

Indian Coast Guard Eligibility: Additional Criteria

Candidates must be aware of the additional criteria for Indian Coast Guard eligibility. It will help them figure out if they can apply for the job or not. Find the details regarding the same given below:

  • Candidates who have previously been arrested, convicted or prosecuted on criminal charges will be considered ineligible.
  • Those who were withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any other service training academy will be considered ineligible.
  • As per the Indian Coast Guard eligibility criteria, candidates in their final year can apply for the post, provided they have secured a minimum of 60% marks up to the last semester and do not have any backlogs.
  • In case of no vacancy for SC/ST/OBC/EWS, reserved candidates can apply under unreserved posts. However, no relaxation will be provided in such a case.
