The Solomon Islands blocked all foreign naval ships

  • In their ports, the Solomon Islands have enforced moratoria on US Navy ships.
  • Since a deal with China in May, relations between the Solomon Islands and the US and its allies have become tense.
  • According to the agreement, Solomon gave anchorage for the ships of the Chinese Navy.

  • The National Crime Records Bureau has published a paper titled Accidental Deaths and Suicides 2021.

Key Points:

  • The number of suicide-related deaths in India reached a record high in 2021, according to the Accidental Deaths and Suicides 2021 report.
  • India now has 11.3 reported suicides per 100,000 people, according to the Accidental Deaths and Suicides Report.
  • Since data from 1967 are available, this is the rate of suicide-related deaths that is at its greatest.
  • Maharashtra, the state with the highest suicide rate, saw 22,207 suicides in 2021, according to the Accidental Deaths and Suicides report.
  • With 18,925 suicides, Tamil Nadu comes in second, followed by Madhya Pradesh with 14,965 suicides, West Bengal in fourth with 13,500 suicides, and Karnataka in fifth with 13,056 suicides.
  • These five states account for 50.4% of all suicides in the nation, according to figures made public by the NCRB.
  • With the aim of assisting the Indian Police in efficiently enforcing law and order through the provision of information technology solutions and criminal intelligence, NCRB was founded in 1986 by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • It was created in accordance with the suggestions made by the Task Force of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Police Commission (1977–1981) (1985).
  • The NCRB compiles thorough annual statistics on crime in the nation.

University Grants Commission to launch 'e-Samadhan' portal for grievance redressal

  • All grievances of students and staff in universities will be monitored and resolved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) through a centralized portal called 'e-Samadhan'.

key points:

  • According to the University Grants Commission, e-Samdhan ensures transparency, prevents unfair practices in higher education institutions, and also provides a time-bound mechanism for the redressal of grievances.
  • This new portal e-Samadhan has been developed by the University Grants Commission by merging its existing portals and helplines except for the Anti Ragging Helpline.
  • UGC e-Samadhan, to serve the stakeholders, will be a single window system for all the stakeholders to register their grievances on the portal which will be available at all times at the click of the mouse.
  • Under the e-Samadhan portal, a toll-free number 1800-111-656 will also be available 24×7 on the website of the UGC, wherein grievances can be lodged by the stakeholders on any issue faced them.
  • The University Grants Commission aims to benefit about 38 million students through the e-Samadhan portal.
  • The University Grants Commission covers a vast and comprehensive stakeholder structure comprising 1043 universities, 42343 colleges, 3.85 crore students, and 15.03 lakh teachers.
  • The University Grants Commission was established in the year 1956 and the headquarter of the commission is located in New Delhi.
  • Mamidala Jagdish Kumar is the chairman of the University Grants Commission.

Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal started a virtual school

  • Initially, the virtual school will be started from class 9 to class 12.
  • The students in the virtual school will be trained by experts for skill-based training as well as for entrance exams like NEET, CUET, and JEE.
  • Classes will be conducted online in the country's first virtual school and recorded lectures will also be uploaded online.
  • The school is inspired by virtual classes that became essential due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Virtual School is affiliated with the Delhi Board of School Education Board.
  • Virtual School Any student in the age group of 13 to 18 years, who has passed class 8 from any recognized school, can apply for admission to the virtual school.

Rajasthan government launched 'Mahila Nidhi' to help women entrepreneurs

  • Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, has launched the loan program "Mahila Nidhi" to aid in the social and economic advancement of women.

  • Under the Mahila Nidhi Yojana, women will be eligible for low-interest loans for both daily expenses and the expansion of existing businesses.
  • A "Women Fund" would be formed by the government through the Rajasthan Rural Livelihood Development Council, according to the government of Rajasthan's budget for 2022–2023.
  • Mahila Nidhi has been established in Rajasthan, the second state in the nation after Telangana.
  • Mahila Nidhi was founded with the intention of assisting women's self-help organizations in obtaining bank loans, raising the income of underprivileged and marginalized women, and assisting women in social and economic advancement through skill development.
  • For loans up to Rs. 40,000, Mahila Nidhi Yojana would offer credit within 48 hours, and for loans exceeding Rs. 40,000, it will do so within 15 days.
  • Under the Mahila Nidhi Yojana, 2.70 lakh self-help groups have currently been established in 33 districts of the state, linking 30 lakh families.
  • Ashok Gehlot serves as the state of Rajasthan's chief minister, Kalraj Mishra as its governor, and Jaipur as its capital.

  • By 2030 and 2025, Tata Steel wants to reduce its CO2 emissions in India to 1.8 tCO2/TCS and 2 tCO2/TCS, respectively.
  • Tata Steel has successfully utilized the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method to comprehend and improve the environmental performance of its goods with the goal of ensuring product sustainability.
  • The Tata Steel Group is one of the largest producers of steel in the world, with an annual capacity of 34 million tons of crude steel.

  • Amiya Kumar Malik's 10.26-second national record was broken by Assamese athlete Amlan Borgohain, 24, in the 87th All India Inter-Railway Athletics Championships in 10.25 seconds.
  • The previous record for Borgohain was 10.34 seconds, set at the National Open in Warangal the previous year.
  • Amlan Borgohain is the current 100- and 200-meter national champion.
  • Amlan Borgohain currently holds the national 200-meter record, which she set in 20.52 seconds at this year's Federation Cup.
