Paper-I: General Studies

Paper 1 consists of the General Studies paper of 140 Marks out of a total of 200 Marks in the preliminary exam. Hence for the preliminary exam, it is the most scoring section of the paper.

In the General Studies paper subjects like General Science, History, Geography Current Affairs, UP specific GK, etc will be asked. • History: In the history subject the focus will be on the Indian National Movement, 
  • For covering the history syllabus a candidate can refer to the Spectrum or Modern History by S K Pandey.
• Geography: The questions asked from geography are from UP Specific Geography as well as Indian and World level Geography.
  • One can read the NCERT Summary by Mahesh Barnwal to cover the Geography syllabus for UPPSC RO ARO Exam.
• Polity and Economy: The polity syllabus covers the topics like Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Parliament, Governor, etc.
  • There is no better book than Laxmikanth to cover the basics of the polity.
• For Economy, the candidates can refer to Ramesh Singh or Pariksha Vani. 
  • It will help you cover the basics of the Economy like GDP, GNP, Inflation, etc. For economy questions, the student is advised to strictly follow up on the UP Budget and UP Economic Survey.
