UP PCS J Exam Pattern 2023 has been notified by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) for the post of Civil Judge. The candidates who are willing to appear for the PCS J exam must be acquainted with the new PCS J exam pattern that has been notified to you here. The UP PCS Judiciary exam pattern is divided into three stages, Prelims, Mains and Interview. A candidate needs to qualify each stage to be eligible to be appointed as a Civil Judge in the courts of Uttar Pradesh.

UP PCS J Prelims exam is objective in nature, Mains is descriptive in nature while the Interview shall be verbal. Further, UPPSC has changed the UP PCS Judiciary exam pattern as per the latest notification. Thus, the candidates must check out the new PCS J exam pattern that is given here.

UP PCS J Exam Pattern 2023

UP PCS J Exam Pattern consists of Prelims, Mains and Interview stages. The UP PCS J Exam for Prelims exam consists of two papers, General Knowledge and Law paper. On the other hand, there PCS J Mains exam has a total of 6 papers where each paper can be answered in both English and Hindi Languages.

The UP PCS J Prelims exam has GK and Law papers. As per the new UP PCS J exam pattern, there is a change in the Mains paper pattern. The Mains exam shall have a total of 6 papers. The 1st paper is the GK paper while the 2nd and 3rd papers are English Language and Hindi Language papers respectively. The 4th, 5th and 6th papers are the law papers. UP PCS J Prelims Exam Pattern

The UP PCS J prelims exam i the first stage of the UPPCS Judiciary exam. There are two papers i.e., Paper I and Paper II. UPPCS J Paper I is of General Knowledge and will be conducted for 150 marks. Paper II is a Law exam for 300 marks. The time duration for both papers is 2 hours each. All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions.   • The total mark for the PCS J Prelims exam is 450.
  • There are 2 papers viz., General Knowledge & Law.
  • Each paper is 2 hours.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.33 mark in the UPPCS Judiciary prelims exam.

UP PCS J Mains Exam Pattern

Those who qualify for the PCS Judiciary prelims exam are called for the mains exam. The mains exam is the merit deciding round. The total marks of the PCS J mains exam is 1000 marks. There are 6 papers in it. Before 2022, there used to be 5 papers where a single language paper used to be conducted. All the papers shall be descriptive in nature. The candidates will have a choice to answer General Knowledge and Law papers either in Hindi or in English.

PCS J Interview

The candidates who will qualify the UP PCS J Mains exam shall be called to appear for the Interview which is for 100 Marks. The main aim of the UP Judiciary interview is to check the suitability of the candidates for the post of Civil Judge. The candidate's suitability will be tested with reference to his/her merit with regard to his character, personality and physique.

UPPSC PCS J Exam Exam Pattern FAQs

  • UP PCS J Exam Pattern consists of Prelims and Mains exam. The candidates who qualify the Mains exam are later on called to appear for the interview as well. The Prelims is for a total of 450 marks, Mains for 1000 marks and interview for 100 marks. The merit list is decided on the basis of the marks scored by a candidate in Mains and Interview only to be considered for the post of Civil Judge in UP Judiciary.

  • Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.33 mark in the Prelims exam of UP PCS J exam 2023. Thus, candidates must tick the answers only if they are sure of the right answers. There is no negative marking in the Mains exam though.

  • Yes, UP PCS J Exam Pattern 2023 has undergone a change. The Mains exam will now have 6 papers instead of 5 papers. The language paper has been segregated into English and Hindi Language papers of 100 marks each. Candidates who will be appearing for the PCS J exam 2023 must go through the new exam pattern that is provided to you here,

  • UP PCS J Prelims exam pattern consists of General Knowledge and Law papers for a total of 450 marks. All the questions are objective in nature. There is a penalty of 0.33 mark for every incorrect answer marked by you in the exam.

  • UP PCS J Exam Pattern for Mains consists of 6 descriptive papers. The Mains papers are General Knowledge, English Language, Hindi Language, Law Paper 1, Law Paper 2, and Law Paper 3. The total marks for UP Judiciary Mains is 1000 marks. Candidates can answer the law papers and GK paper in Enlgish or Hindi language.
