HTET eligibility criteria are the minimum requirement that candidates need to fulfill in order to apply for the exam. Candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria for each level so that they do not encounter any problems at any stage.

HTET Eligibility is prescribed by the Haryana Education Board, Haryana. It includes age limit and minimum education qualification required for the exam. Candidates not fulfilling any of the requirements mentioned in the HTET eligibility criteria are not eligible for writing the exam. Hence, they must confirm their eligibility first and then submit the HTET application form.

It is mandatory for the candidates to fulfill the HTET eligibility otherwise their candidature may get canceled. Candidates belonging to the reserved category should keep their documents ready. HTET Eligibility 2023

The concerned authority of the Haryana Education Board releases the eligibility criteria for level 1, level 2, and level 3. HTET eligibility for these three levels differs. As a result, candidates interested in applying for the HTET must carefully read the official notification carefully. Revised HTET Eligibility Criteria

As per the latest notification released by Haryana Government School Education Department, candidates have to appear and qualify the HTET exam to apply as teachers in government schools of Haryana. Earlier, students were required to have a valid CTET certificate to apply as a teacher in Haryana.

Now, candidates must have a valid HTET certificate to apply for the teacher recruitment exam conducted to fill vacancies in Haryana government schools. The certificate of CTET is no more a valid document for such vacancies.

Educational Qualification in HTET Eligibility 2023

Candidates who wish to take the upcoming exam must meet the educational qualification outlined in the HTET eligibility criteria. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in the relevant field of education.

Educational qualification for each level varies hence they must check the eligibility carefully for the post they want to apply for. Any candidate who fails to meet the HTET eligibility requirements at any point during the examination process will be declared ineligible. 

HTET PRT Eligibility Criteria for Level 1

Candidates who want to apply for the level 1 exam must check the complete HTET PRT Eligibility. Level 1 exam is conducted for to check the teaching eligibility of candidates who want to teach classes 1st to 5th.

  • Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Education (Special education) OR
  • Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) (ii) Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr. Secondary/Graduation/Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the subjects.

 

HTET TGT Eligibility Criteria for Level 2

HTET TGT eligibility criteria is a matter of concern for those candidates who want to be Trained Graduate Teachers. The level 2 exam is held to test the teaching eligibility for classes 6th to 8th. Check the detailed HTET Eligibility for level 2 in the table given below.

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 2-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), under the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard OR
  • Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in B.Ed(Special Education).(ii) Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr. Secondary/Graduation/Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the subjects.

HTET PGT Eligibility Criteria for Level 3

Level 3 exam is held to determine the teaching eligibility of candidates for the position of Post Graduate Teachers for classes 9th to 12th. Candidates can check the detailed HTET PGT eligibility before applying for the vacant position.

  • Postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. from a recognized university
  • Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr.Secondary/Graduation/Post-graduation with Hindi as one of the subjects
  • Must own a consistently good academic record.

HTET Age Limit

As per HTET eligibility, the minimum age to apply for the exam is 18 years. However, the concerned Board has not specified the maximum age limit to appear in the exam. Candidates who have attained the age of 18 years are eligible to contest the exam. Also, there is no provision for age relaxation for the reserved category candidates.

HTET Number of Attempts

There is no limit on the number of attempts to write the exam. A candidate can apply for the exam as many times as he/she wants. It gives a great advantage to appear for the exam without the pressure of the limited number of attempts to improve the overall score. So, the only condition required to write the exam is meeting the HTET eligibility criteria.

  • According to the HTET eligibility, candidates need to pass class 12th and must have a graduation degree in the field of Education (Bachelor in Education B.Ed or Diploma in Education).

  • Earlier candidates with valid CTET certificates were allowed to apply as teachers in government schools of Haryana, but as per the new HTET eligibility guidelines, candidates must have a valid HTET certificate to apply for the position of teacher in government schools of Haryana.

  • According to HTET eligibility, the minimum age to apply for the exam is 18 years. However, there is no maximum age limit for taking the exam.

  • Level 1 exam is for the candidates who want to apply for the Primary Teacher post. To apply as a teacher for classes I to V, candidates must have completed graduation or must be appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

  • Level 3 exam is for the candidates who want to apply for Post Graduate Teacher Vacancies. To apply as a teacher for class 9th to 12th, a candidate must have a post graduate degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks.

  • The level 2 exam is for candidates who want to apply as Trained Graduate Teachers. To become a teacher in classes 6th to 8th, candidates must have a bachelor's degree or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
