This is our last session on the topic Number & Letter Sequences. Today we will be learning about some more types of problems that are asked in this section of different BBA & IPM Entrance exams.

## Type I: Changing Letters of the meaningful words

In these type of questions, the letters of any meaningful word are arranged according to some directions given in the question. Based on this arrangement you are asked to find out any particular number from left or right.

Example: In the word ‘CONUNDRUM’, the second from the left and right respectively are interchanged and the fourth from left and right respectively are interchanged. Find the 7th letter from the left.

Solution: After the rearrangement of the word as per the given directions we get the words in the following order CUNDNUROM. On counting letters from left, the 7th letter is R.

## Type II: Forming a meaningful word with selected letters of the word

In these types of questions, it is asked whether a word can be formed from the selected letters of a meaningful word.

Example:  Is it possible to make one or more meaningful words with the first, second, third, and fifth letters of the word DELHITE.

Solution: The first, second, third, and fifth letters of the word are DELI. We can make two meaningful words with the selected letters and they are: LIED and IDEL.

## Type III: Suitable Word Formation

In this type of question, the main word is given in the question and the candidate has to choose that word that can or cannot be formed from the main word.

Example: Select the suitable meaningful word that can be formed by using the letters of the given word TEACHER.

• RATE (b) TEEN (c)RENT (d) TOUCH

Solution: On analyzing we find that the only meaningful word which can be formed out of the letters from the given word is ‘RATE’.
