Preparation Tips for Analog Circuits

Countdown is ticking, and less than 20 days left for ESE-2016! Aspirants must have begun with their revisions and  must be counting hours and minutes instead of days. So taking an account of time, here is an analysis of another subject, Analog Circuits in which rarely Electrical Engineers are interested.

Analog circuit has its roots in Electronics generally Electrical people used to leave this topic. But by learning few topics you can overcome apprehension of this subject.Basic working principles of devices (Diode, BJT, MOSFET, FET) are necessary. One  need to know about various terminals and direction of current Flow and applied terminal voltage for different modes of operation.

The following topics are included in Analog Circuits:

Diodes Circuits

  • It is an  important topic,Clipper should be practised thoroughly.
  • Practice various Diode circuits from authorised  book and any reference book.
  • Also general circuits where we need to judge the state of multiple diodes in a single circuit is important and should be practiced.

Biasing and Amplifiers

  • Biasing concepts like finding the Q-Point or Operating point in a circuit for the purpose of DC Analysis.
  • After  biasing, concept of Amplifier has importance.
  • Apart from different models to solve amplifiers problems, Re-model is the simplest to learn and perform.
  • Also one  may be asked  different components in the small signal model like Trans-conductance and these parameters can be directly known  from the DC Analysis.
  • BJT amplifier are more important than FET and MOSFET.

Feedback Amplifier

  • One should be aware about various topology and its effect on output and input impedances, gain, noise, distortion.

Operational Amplifier

  • Concept of Operational Amplifer begins with Differential Amplifier and definition such as  CMRR, Slew rate Input Biasing current etc. CMRR and Slew rate are important.
  • Questions are asked from basic op amp topology.
  • One can solve it by applying Network Theory and mostly entered around the concept of Virtual Ground.
  • One should also be aware of various Filter Designs.
  • Also, One should be clear with analysis of Schmitt Trigger as that is one of the important topic.

Power Amplifier

  • This topic can be brushed from top as it has less possibility, at least have a look of topics.
