NMAT Exam Pattern is released every year by the GMAC (Graduate Management Academic Council) online, along with the exam notification. Following the last year's trend, NMAT Exam Pattern 2023 will consist of 3 exam sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. The candidates can expect the same NMAT paper pattern, with 108 questions and 2 hours of exam duration.

Candidates appearing in the upcoming exam must check NMAT Exam Pattern 2023 and any changes made to it. However, it is expected that the exam authority will not make any changes to it and will follow the NMAT paper pattern as last year. NMAT Exam Pattern 2023

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) releases the NMAT Exam Pattern officially every year for the candidates who apply for NMAT. The candidates can get the NMAT paper pattern on the official website of GMAC, and it is completely similar to the MBA Entrance Exams. So, the candidates appearing for the upcoming exam must check the latest NMAT Exam Pattern 2023 and understand it well.

In 2020, the GMAC officials revised the NMAT Exam Pattern and reduced the number of questions in each section and made the exam computer adaptive. The total number of questions was reduced to 108 from 120 in 2021. The NMAT sectional timing for all the sections was also revised.

NMAT Exam Pattern consists of 3 sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. Besides, out of the three NMAT attempts, the best one is considered for final evaluation. So, it is your first priority to know NMAT Exam Pattern well before you start your exam preparation.

  • Changes in NMAT sectional time limit: As per the official updates on the NMAT Exam Pattern, the total time duration is the same but changed the sectional timing of the exam. The quant section has the maximum duration, whereas the language section has the least duration in the revised exam pattern.
  • NMAT negative marking: There is no negative marking, as per the NMAT Exam Pattern.
  • Candidates can select the sequence of sections to attempt for their benefit.

NMAT Exam Pattern: Scaled Scoring System

Scaled scoring is a significant feature of the NMAT exam. Based on the candidate's performance in the already attempted questions, the GMAC server selects the same-level questions from the questions pool. Only one question will appear on the screen at a time.

In this way, a candidate will receive questions matching the level of the candidate. The final evaluation is done by the first procurement of your ability evaluation through a probabilistic model approach. The score range from 0 to 360.

NMAT Exam Mode

There are two options to take the NMAT by GMAC:

  • Candidates must go to the exam centre of their choice to sit for the exam. Because the exam is computer-based, candidates should be comfortable with computers.
  • As per NMAT Exam Pattern, online proctored exams can be administered from the comfort of your own home using your computer's desktop.
  • Proctoring software will monitor your computer's screen, webcam, video, and audio during the exam. The data recorded by the programme is submitted to the authority for review once the exam is completed. Candidates can take online proctored tests from the comfort of their own homes.

NMAT Paper Pattern: How to Attempt the Exam

You may choose your preferred section order for the NMAT by GMAC exam, which means you can decide the order of the NMAT exam components. You will see a page after each section where you can see which questions you left unanswered or marked for study while taking the test. Selecting the corresponding number on the Review screen lets you jump straight to a particular question.

You must respond to and evaluate the questions from each of the three sections within the given time for that section, which varies for each of the three sections. Any remaining time won't be added to the following section(s) if you finish the section (answering and reviewing) before the section time runs out. You must finish the following section within the segment's given time because it has its own time limit.

  • As per the official updates of the NMAT Exam Pattern, there will be a total of 108 questions, which are further divided into 3 exam sections:

    The candidates will get 2 hours in total to solve these questions with NMAT Total Marks of 360.

  • No, there is no NMAT Negative Marking in this exam. The candidates will get +3 for every correct answer. So, need not worry about the mark deduction for incorrect answers.

  • As per the latest updates of GMAC, the candidates will be awarded with +3 marks for every correct answer in all the sections. Note that there is no negative marking in NMAT Exam.

  • The NMAT 2023 time duration is 120 minutes or 2 hours. The candidates will get 2 hours to complete NMAT Question Papers. Note that there is a sectional time limit for each of the sections as follows:

    • Language Skills: 28 Minutes
    • Quantitative Skills: 52 Minutes
    • Logical Reasoning skills: 40 Minutes
  • Yes, all the candidates can choose a date, time and location of the exam as per their choice and based on their convenience

  • The Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning Skills are slightly tricky. The candidates need to have complete clarity of the basic concepts of these sections in order to solve questions.

  • Yes, the NMAT 2023 Exam will be given both on-site and via online proctored testing. While completing the NMAT application form, candidates can select the exam mode.

  • In total, The candidates can get 3 test attempts during the one test cycle. To reattempt, the test takers have to apply for NMAT exam retake.
