1. India dethrones New Zealand to reclaim top spot in ICC Test Rankings
- India bagged top spot in the latest ICC Test championships rankings, after beating New Zealand by 372 runs in the second test at Mumbai to win the two-match series by 1-0.
- India mopped up New Zealand lower order within 40 minutes of play on day four at the Wankhede Stadium.
- India now has 124 rating points, while New Zealand lost three points and remains with 121 points
- With this, Kohli became the first player with 50 international wins in each format of the game.

2. Social Justice Minister launches SRESHTA scheme for SC students
- Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar has launched Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SRESHTA) for socio-economic upliftment and development of Scheduled Castes (SC) students.
- It was launched on the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas of B R Ambedkar in New Delhi.
- It will enable bright SC students to have a better future by high-quality education.
- It will also aid in controlling dropout rates of SC students

- Russian President, Vladimir Putin and Indian PM Narendra Modi attended 21st India – Russia Annual summit that was held in Delhi
- It was the first meeting of 2+2 Dialogue of Foreign and Defence Ministers and meeting of Inter-Governmental Commission on Military, Military-Technical Cooperation
- They looked forward to greater inter-regional cooperation between various regions of Russia and India
- PM Modi to visit Russia for 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit in 2022.

4. Olaf Scholz to be nominated as Germany’s next Chancellor
- Social Democratic Party of Germany leader, Olaf Scholz will be nominated as the next Chancellor by Parliament, replacing Angela Merkel’s 16-year reign.
- He has cleared the final hurdle on his path to majority after Green Party members approved their coalition deal with his Social Democrats and Free Democrats.
- While support of at least 369 lawmakers is required in 736-seat lower house to take up the top job, three coalition partners have 416 seats together.

5. Bangladesh and US Navy kicks off CARAT maritime exercise
- Bangladesh Navy (BN) and US military personnel has kicked off annual 9-day Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) maritime exercise.
- Exercise will be carried out virtually in Bay of Bengal
- Focus: Cooperation ensuring free and open Indo-pacific, surface warfare, replenishment-at-sea, search and rescue, a gunnery exercise, and exchanges between Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians.
- It was first introduced in 2011.

6. India, Russia set target of $30 billion trade by 2025
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russia held 2 Plus 2 dialogue between defence and foreign ministers to improve behavioural cooperation with adopting a long-term vision to strengthen bilateral partnership in economic affairs.
- Target of trade worth 30 billion dollars and investment worth 50 billion dollars by 2025 has also been set-up.
- It was the first ever India Russia 2 Plus 2 Ministerial Dialogue that was held in New Delhi

7. India inks deal with Russia for procurement of AK-203 assault rifles
- India has signed a contract with Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt. Ltd., Joint Venture between India and Russia for the indigenous production of over 6 Lakh AK-203 Assault Rifles at Korwa, UP.
- It envisages complete transfer of technology to IRRPL by Kalashnikov in manufacturing of first 70,000 weapons.
- Rest of the 5.31 lakh weapons will be completely indigenous realizing Govt’s vision of Make in India and expanding defence exports.
- The whole order will be produced in 10 years.

8. Indian Consulate in Guangzhou organizes FIPSC to connect diaspora
- India’s Consulate General in Guangzhou has organized Forum of Indian Professionals in South China (FIPSC) in Shenzhen to connect the Indian professionals in Southern China.
- It is a part of an outreach initiative of CGI, Guangzhou, during an event in Shenzhen.
- The event was attended by more than 50 Indian professionals working in South China
- Guangzhou: It is a hub for Indian business community and traders in China who are mainly involved in export-import business.

9. South Sudan’s Govt to end child marriage by 2030
- South Sudan’s Govt has promised to end child marriage by 2030 in line with African Union's campaign to end child marriages in the continent.
- Paramount chiefs from 10 regional states and three administrative areas in the second national conference on ending child marriages
- South Sudan is one of 40 countries in the world with highest rates of child marriages.
- Survey conducted in 2010 found that about seven% of girls marry before the age of 15

10. SIT set up to investigate firing incident in Nagaland
- Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to investigate firing incident in Nagaland and will be completed within a month.
- After Army received information on the movement of insurgents in Nagaland's Mon and '21 Para Commando' unit, Security forces opened fire on civilians killing 14 and injuring 11 in Nagaland's Mon district
- Members also called for the repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

11. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Bill, 2021
- Lok Sabha has passed National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
- National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) will be helping small pharma companies in research and study of pharmacy will assume huge importance
- Bill will serve to encourage new institutes of higher learning on the subject in addition to the existing ones.

12. MoHUA and UNDP sign MoU for Strengthening Waste Management Sector
- Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has signed MoU with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India to strengthen the waste management sector in India under Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban 2.0.
- It is operational for a period of five years (2021-26)
- It marks the beginning of a collaborative journey to strengthen collection, segregation, recovery and recycling of all kinds of non-biodegradable waste, and integrated plastic waste management under SBM-U 2.0.
