- Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has been named as the Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2021 during which US-based electric-vehicle startup became $1 trillion company as Musk became world’s richest person
- US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were named as the Person of the Year for 2020 by Time magazine.
- Elon Musk is the founder, CEO and Chief Engineer at SpaceX with an estimated net worth of around US$255 billion.

2. India successfully launches Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo System
- DRDO has successfully launched Supersonic Missile Assisted Torpedo System (SMAT), demonstrating full range from Abdul Kalam Island, off the Odisha coast.
- SMAT has been designed to enhance anti-submarine warfare capability far beyond the conventional range of torpedo
- It was a textbook launch, where entire trajectory was monitored by the electro optic telemetry system, various range radars, including the down range instrumentation and down range ships.

3. India votes against UNSC draft Resolution on Climate and Security
- India has voted against UN Security Council draft resolution that linked climate change with global security challenges as it argued that the move attempts to undermine the hard-won consensus reached at the recently concluded Glasgow Summit.
- As per India's Permanent Representative to UN T S Tirumurti, India is second to none when it comes to climate action and climate justice, but Security Council is not a place to discuss either issue.

4. Doordarshan to host International Finals of Robocon 2022
- Doordarshan will be hosting the international finals of Robocon 2022 in August 2022, held in 2022
- It is a Robot competition, which is organized by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union and hosted by different member countries every year.
- ABU Robocon 2021 was hosted by China wherein international Robocon contest was held on December 12, 2021.
- Teams from Nirma University and Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Ahmedabad who were India finalists.

- Chairperson, Lokpal of India, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose has inaugurated a digital Platform for Management of Complaints titled as ‘LokpalOnline’
- It can be accessed by all citizens of the country and complaints can be filed from anywhere, anytime at http://lokpalonline.gov.in.
- It is an end-to-end digital solution for the management of complaints against public servants
- The Portal has been hosted on NIC Cloud and has been developed on an Open Source Technology.

11. BPCL collaborates with BARC for Green Hydrogen production
- Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has collaborated with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to scale-up Alkaline Electrolyze technology for Green Hydrogen production.
- This is a first of its kind initiative to support India’s commitment to achieve renewable energy targets and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Refineries use large quantities of Hydrogen for de-sulfurization to make petrol, diesel, and other chemicals.

13. RBI enforces 20-digit LEI for cross-border deals above Rs 50 crore
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) made Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) mandatory for cross-border transactions for capital or current account of Rs 50 crore and above with effect from 1st Oct 2022
- LEI:
- It is a 20-digit number used to uniquely identify parties to financial transactions worldwide to improve quality, accuracy of financial data systems
- LEI numbers are maintained in global LEI database available on website of Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation
